Oh it'll dry darker and look more military, complete with a semi gloss finish. I don't think even if Iworked for the next 4 months in all my spare time I'd get them both done to bring this year. One more (successfull??) kick at the cat with the buggy and then I'll drag this one down and give it a whirl.....Oh ,ya, and I'm officially broke. Sad Hope your project is coming together for you Britt!!!!

Thanks Shwing, I'm looking forward to getting it done that's for sure. Can hardly wait to get the body all bolted together.

You may want to peel the bark off those trees before you burn them so you have something to make soup with!

Got my floor pan back today and I had them blast my trailing arms at the same time so I could do some welding on them. I filled in the holes in the back of the arm as well as welded tabs on for the stainless lines going to the calipers

Trying to get a rolling chassis this weekend so have been working like mad when ever I can. I got the torsion bars and plates in. Preloading 27mm torsion bars with IRS spring plates is a real treat Rolling Eyes I rolled the chassis over to the big side post hoist and swung the arms over it to hold the pan and then used a jack and 4x4 to push the plates up onto the stops.

I started doing all the brake plumbing today and got most done. Hopefully cables, pedals and fuel line tomorrow.

And the coolest part of my week. My wing from BigWigRacecars showed up. It's a piece of art. I'm diein' to get this on the car.....

Well, it's a rolling shell again. The body is all bolted down and the suspension and brakes are just about complete. Got the quarter windows in by myself but no luck on the rear glass. A few dash pieces made it in. Still have to get a windsheild cut and put in.

Couldn't wait any longer and broke out the duct tape and rivet gun. If you've never seen his work check out www.bigwigracecars.com Ric is a true artist in metal. He built me a custom wing with interchageable wickerbills to try out. Hope to getthis permanently mounted SOON.

The doors are all together. It's been 15 years since I put a Beetle door back together from a bare shell. A couple of tricks I figured out. I used some long handle needle nose pliers reaching up from inside the door to squeeze the clips together while installing the out scraper. I ended up Replcing the spring retainer from the inside scraper with the original part. The new one supplied with the "German" ones from CIP1 were completely the wrong shape and size.

And I bid a final farewell to all the metal I cut off the car (got told to clean up my %@$# Wink ) so here's everything that didn't make the trip

I don't really have a goal weight. If I can finish the car and be a bit lighter than stock, that would be fine. It's not like drag racing where every 50lbs will save you a tenth. A heavy car is more stable over long distances. It has to be street legal to qualify for 130 and 150 Club racing at Bonneville, it's going to be street driven mostly.
