Good Day Eh,
Can anyone tell me if I have the right fan shroud set up?
I have a 1969 Beetle with an AutomaticStickshift and the original 1500cc SP rebuilt but I am upgrading the fan shroud to a doghouse set up but have two and have no idea if one is right or wrong or both or neither...HELP! PLEASE! I am sick of listening to technicians who don`t have a clue about what they are talking about flip flopping on advice and answers.
Any and all help is appreciated!
I don`t know if it makes any difference, But I am sure some Sambanians do! Thanks again

The clean one is the doghouse fan shroud I am putting on and having the venturi ring from the rusty one welded on. Is it the correct one?

They both have an extra nipple, one on the side one on the back, Which I have no clue what they are for or if they are necessary

This black one is the Original I am replacing with the clean doghouse above. At least that is the plan.

Not really, the top pic is the best shot, at least until...Monday?
But the clean Doghouse has identical holes and slots as to the Original.

Both would work fine. The nipple is for a connection to a carbon canister that was located under the passenger rear fender. It helped draw off fuel vapers from the gas tank. If you don't need it, plug it off.
The fan for a dog house is a little wider than the non-dog house fan, so you will need one with the shroud change.

Your cooling flaps and linkage won't work with the new shroud, you'll have to get later ones.

The rusty one is a FI shroud that someone removed the venturi ring from. You will notice the hole for the throttle cable is way over to the left.

I think the flaps are the same but the long rod linkage needs to be updated to the DH version
