I found this on Jim Ellis website, but they never put a reference for the numbers listed to tell you the name of the part.

Actually that is in front of the dash!! Wink

This might help a bit.

You might call them and inquire on the rest of the parts.

Here's a (German) August 1971 version of that diagram plus the matching parts list - I think the fresh air box is still the same in 73 as it was at the end of MY71. Having the part numbers might not help a whole lot but you can at least look at them.

Finally got my fresh air system done. Hardest part of the restoration as far as finding parts.

Hey I know your not totally finished and you probably know this, but the hose in the middle is for draining water from the fresh air box, you're gonna fill up your trunk in a monsoon, lol. You need to run a rubber hose into the drain hole located just behind the gas tank, under the carpet, so water will drain.
3rd post down here shows it really good: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=512655
Otherwise looks like a nice job.

Not to thread jack you, but I am looking for #1 in your diagram. The part that attaches to the vents. I have all the other parts.

Any idea where it can be found or am I hunting the swap meets/used parts places to get them?

Haven't come across those, but I would call Interstate Used Parts. Thay always come through for me and they ship fast. Ask for Diane or Herb and tell that Jim Harrison sent you.

Couple of places a bit north from you, but maybe they'll ship and should have that part.
