A guy gave me a roof rack no clamps and I search pictures and made my own ones. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

These are the clamps that came on my rack. As you can see the bolts are attached to the rack itself.

How rugged are these racks anyway? I really like the look of them, but I suspect some are good, and some are junk. _________________ Every morning, Greggery drives his little red Volkswagen to the ugly part of town where they keep the government buildings. The all metal ones like in that pic are tuff!!!!! the wood slat ones are good for most anything you would want to put on the roof of your bug,, and the bolt together wood slat ones that empi is selling now are just for looks _________________ 1302s sunroof..

VWOA roof racks...the all metal ones take a bunch of abuse
but dont pay much for one missing clamps if you plan on flipping it or showing the car. |

had the same problem with a rack i picked up years ago. made one clamp with the other as a template and searched the classifieds daily until one nos clamp surfaced and i nabbed it. VERY pricy but correct clamp. patience...
the bolt is an eye bolt bent around the slat. easy to repop. |

Wish there was a way to fit a bicycle fork mount to one of these. I'd rather not shell out $600 for a Yakima rack, and laying the bike down on the factory rack is not an option (bikes, like Bugs, can get really expensive ya know). _________________ Every morning, Greggery drives his little red Volkswagen to the ugly part of town where they keep the government buildings.
