Yep, That's how you know for sure they're real. |

Well it's been a little while since I had any update. I'm looking forward to getting the Manx back out for the season, Spring is almost here in Vancouver so with that...
Since I built my Manx I've been wanting to build a custom linkage for the NDIX as I haven't had any luck finding one that would work.
A few years ago I spotted one in a magazine or here or the Samba but had no idea where it came from. Last weekend at the VW swap meet in Bremerton I was walking along and checking out stuff and a Zenith cought my eye! Hmmm whats that attached to it? The linkage I've been looking for!!!
Here's a shot of it. For those who don't know the Zenith sit's directly infront of the acc cable outlet and thus making the carb linkage a few inches away causing the cable to bind.
This linkage moves it over and is very well built!
Carb, linkage and manifold for $40 SCORE!

Geoff,
Were you in Bremerton or Bellevue? If you were at the Springmeet in Bellevue, I am sorry that I didnt meet you. I was there with my car. |

Geoff, I'd appreciate seeing a couple more pictures from different views
Were you able to use the Zenith and still keep the stainless access plate? |

Wythac, yes sorry I meant Bellevue. I didn't have the Manx there just looking for parts.
BLManx, Here are a few other shots for you. I'll get a few more once it's off.
I did keep the stainless plate but had to cut a hole in it for the air cleaner and stand off the licence plate.
This linkage is VERY well made, and I think it will do the trick! |

| So the cable from the pedal passes between the two down tubes of the manifold? |

| no, the linkage mounts to the front of the car. That way the cable comes out of the shroud a inch or two and attaches to the relay lever (it's directly behind the manifold, it then pulls the linkage arm. |

Geoff,
That is pretty cool. Not impossible to fab, but much much better to find at a swap meet!
That was the first time at that venue. I think that if it is back there next year, a consciencious swapper shopper should bring a flashlight. It was a bit dark in spots.
So it appears that at least for now you are hanging on to your car. I may be coming up to Vancouver at some point this summer with mine...I've heard from some folks up there that there is a regular Friday night VW "drive in" during the summer months I might try to make after work some weekend. |

You should try and make the Great Canadian VW show weekend, Aug 24-26th. VW Overload! |

Great. I'll put that on my calendar and hope I can make it. Sounds like fun, I always have a good time when I visit my "brothers from another country".
Conversely, It would be great to see you bring your car down for the Cascade Kombis Vintage Meet this summer. It's July 21st this year, in Shoreline just north of Seattle. Swap is usually pretty good. If I was more interested in swapping than showing, I could do OK, I have enough parts bought for my Rascal to build another car! |
