I would imagine that I can't use stock valve covers with the Speedwell rato rockers, yes? What are my options?

Cheers,

Ray owns the name and rights to Speedwell USA and the Logo thats why the logo is on there, plus there his parts.

nono my question is why is it on the pepco...that makes it visible to everybody thats a repro part. i wouln't like this. but it's just my feeling. its easy to put it in a mill and fix this.

You could always just machine the SPEEDWELL logo off, but I like it

He also spent his money to redesign it and make it better so it will last.

You need to understand this has been a 12+ year process to get these built. Originally the impellers were going to have to be extruded and the cost of that would have put these into the 5000 range. well technology has advanced and getting things CNC'd and machined has gotten cheaper and more readily available. The other thing, that might not make a difference to you, is that Ray wanted these things Made in the USA, where he could control the quality and not have to keep emailing and calling someone in. When he told me they were ready and that he had a batch coming, I sent him my money ASAP, was not what I wanted to spend the money on at the moment but How many time you going to buy a BRAND NEW SPEEDWELL SUPERCHARGER. I am going to pick it up from him in a week to save in the shipping and also to pick up other parts I need.

I do not know why the 4 that were sold at the Volksworld Show and the one at Kelley Park Have not popped up here on the Samba. But maybe they are busy driving there cars not complaining that they have not spent enough time Samba critiquing parts that they want to buy off the shelf VS doing the legwork to build it themselves.

I still think it funny people Complain that they can't buy a part off the shelf. Some company knocks them out in china, then they bitch that it made in china because its cheap and poor quality. Ask Ronnie or any one that has gotten parts from Ray if it is cheap crap or if its a part that fits the first time? Funny people say they can not get a hold of Ray, then how the heck have some of us dealt with him and been able to get parts from him? I have never seen Ray not stop and talk to soemone that asks him a question at a show, Maybe some of us are lucky, or maybe we understand quality is not cheap or fast.

Wonder if Jay Leno Puts a deadline of the guys restoring his Duesenbergs?

the point wasn't to pass them it off as an original pepco it was to make a new and redesigned super charger that while last and not brake inturnal parts, so once you redesign and dumb tens of thousands of dollors in to making a producting for your company then you have all the right in the world to put your logo on it!

it's funny someone always has something stupid to say standing on the "side lines" but i don't see them in the game. Think

My friend Eric bought the one at Kelley Park but his engine plans are in the future so it's not in use yet.

Yippy, I just purchased a Denzel style pulley!

http://www.bustoration.com/SPEEDWELL-USA-Denzel-style-crank-pulley_p_1954.html

Yeah, I know it won't make my car any faster/smoother/more reliable, but it sure will look nice plated in clear cad. Wink

Cheers,

Paul

oh ok than it makes total sense. i just did know the pepco will be get a reproduction so its a new supercharger that just look like the pepce. so the logo is on the right place. how is it with bonnville than? the blower is than not allowed specially because its a new ege one. so its not possible to use it in the k36 class right but for sure on the NA36 class.
nice product i belive. would be nice if somebody show up the differents in compare to a pepco and also some data..displacement per revolution and max rpm.

nice stuff.

You can use the Speedwell PEPCO copy in the 36 LSC class, just like aftermarket IDA's (ie; EMPI EPC 4Cool

I almost have the 1482 done (IDA, WW Okrassa) engine back together and have all the pieces now to start on the SPEEDWELL/Pepco engine. 69.5X83,
WW crank and Okrassa heads, 5.375 chevy journal H beam rods

I know your concern with the new Speewell valve covers clearing the upcoming ratio rockers. It they do not, Juan and I discovered a brand new 36hp valve cover that should clear. After visiting Mooneyes in Sante Fe Springs after the Bug In, we also stopped by German Auto just a quarter mile south. To our surprise on the wall was a blister packed set of "Polished", mildly finned, 36hp valve covers with extremely "deep" clearance that looks like it will fit any ratio rocker you can create. Price for the first set hanging on the wall was $175 and Juan took them home. We stopped by two days later and another set had replaced them meaning they are "in stock"! They look modern, with no hint of "vintage" and should work very well. They are too new to show in their catalogue but you can email them at [email protected]. They are branded SACO and they have also made a run of 100 Okrasa style crank pulleys for ISP that must be ordered from ISP.

Hopefully this will solve clearance problems for high lift 36ers. When I get home from SoCal later this month I will post some photos of this latest 36hp product.

I have a set of SACO valve covers on my big engine. There is a little clearance issue with the cylinder tin, nothing big. I asked Ed at SACO if he'd fix that issue don't know if he did or not as I haven't got any more since these. There are nice and fit the WW Okrassa head nice and tight

SPEEDWELL, SACO and FASTERS all clear my 1.33 rockers with no issues

Hey Paul,

Are these the same diameter as the Pre-A OT pulley?

I noticed they're sold out now too!
