Has anyone out here ever installed a clutch release bearing collar on to a pressure plate. You know from late style to early style. I purchased a Kennedy Stage 1 and specifically asked for an early style, but was sent the late style. I have all ready contacted the Ebay seller, but In case that doesnt work out, Id like advice how to install the retaining spring. I managed to removed one from a VW pressure plate, and it looks like it will be fine. I am guessing I'd probably have to use a press to install it to the point of snapping past the collar lip. I am on sort of deadline to meet, or I wouldnt even be asking.

I'm not changing to a late style throw out bearing at this time.

Surely someone has tried this.
Ive seen plenty of post of how to remove the collar, but not the other way around.

There's generally a spiral lock. Remove it, put the collar on and install the spiral lock from the inside.

I only received the late style pressure plate, I didnt receive the Kennedy Collar and spiral lock. All I have is the VW collar and the VW spring washer.

The oem ones don't have a spiral lock, since you have the ring, you probably. Need to acquire the snap ring.

I have the snap "spring disc" that locks the VW collar to a pressure plate. Frankly it was pain in the rump to get off without damaging or cutting it.
Now I just needed some insight on how to snap it back on so it holds tight.
It looks like it takes a press to gently and evenly bend it over the lip of the collar to hold.
Looks like Im the only idiot that goes backwards... Laughing

If I cant get anywhere with the seller, I may just order another and sell this one.
So far the seller is offering to send me a collar. Hopefully its one with a spiral lock.

You feed it in kind of like a key ring. It's a real pain but it can be done.

Call up KEP and order correct ring and spiral lock.... I had to do it a few years ago and I think it was about $11 for parts plus shipping ... Goes on in about 2 minutes.... But then again "today" it may cost a bit more BUT it will ease EXCEDRIN Headache #1700.....

Trying to mate unknown VW ring to Kennedy product will probably never be productive...

A special thanks to gprudenciop for sending me a Kennedy Clutch Collar. I know I can always count on Samba members. Its amazing how the VW crowd easily offers to help out a fellow enthusiast.
