I put a clutch in last summer and when I took the car out of winter storage , the clutch was slipping. Upon inspection I noticed all the rivets on the pressure plate was loose. So I purchased a new pressure plate and disc last week. I drove the car for 3 days. On the 3 rd day I wasn't able to put it into gear when the engine was running. I pulled the clutch out again and all the rivets are loose on this pressure plate. Is any one else having this issue?? Tis is my 2 nd new clutch within a year. I have not beat on the car or abused it in any way.

Return it to Kennedy, they claim to stand behind their product.

Are there any other pressure plates I could go with? I would rather avoid Kennedy since I have put in 2 within a year and not even 200 miles combined.

Really????? More Kennedy issues???? I've had one die in less than 200 miles recently! Will someone please stop in Palmdale and slap these people into shape.... Unfortunately, to my knowledge there are no other options, besides Empi. I so want to drive my car, but I'm not willing to drop another penny on a Kennedy.

Sounds like you got one of the bad ones from that latest bad batch. I'm told that KEP will replace a defective one. Alternative is an Empi stage 1. Heard they're ok. Empi though....

I recently went through this very issue. New Kennedy pressure plate, disc, etc
Clutch worked perfect for about 40 miles or so, then would not disengage fully, so no gear shifting was possible with the engine running.
Long story short, I sent the PP back to Kennedy they "reworked" it an sent it back free of charge. Seems there was an error in the making of the friction suface on the PP, it was a little to thick. I would be willing to bet that mine was not the only one in error, when these types of errors happen they usually in batches.
Anyway botton line is no ones perfect, mistakes happen, what makes a manufacturer good is consistancy, and the ability to stand up and make things right if they go wrong.
I have used and been using kennedy clutches for over 20 years and that was my first issue which they promptly took care of.
Propts to Kennedy for doing such a stand up job all these years, and their willingness to handle issues on an individual basis.
Call them up, and give them the opertunity to fix it.

I apologize, This is the second PP that I've had with this problem. I'll send mine back if it comes back free of charge and able to perform then I'm ok.

Have a close look at the thickness of the disc also, could be to thick causing the clutch to hang. Another area of error thats commonly made is over adjusting the pedal causing the PP to over cycle and become damaged.
I recommend adjusting the clutch so there is just enough pedal to get a good clean shift.
Typically that means following kennedys directions of 1/8" freeplay at the clutch arm on the transmission to the "T". If you adjust the clutch by pedal feel, 9 times out of 10 it's possible to overcycle the PP, damage it, and cause the very issue your fighting now.
One more thing, it's critical the PP is kept level when installing and removing it from the flywheel. In other words tighten and loosen equally.
I'm not saying you did or didn't do any of the above, just trying to throw out ideas to help.

Let know what you find.

I just got a stage 1 kit from Kennedy not too long ago. Since mine is still new in box I am wondering if they keep batch numbers to the defective ones and would swap it before I run into problems and have to take it out... Assuming mine is one within the batch numbers they have reported problems with I guess

I would not assume anything, good or bad.
I would not light fires that don't need to be lit either. Kennedy never said they had a bad batch, I just used that term as a typical scenario found in manufacturing.
I would compare notes with the one your are replacing, if you find something to be off or odd, then give them a call.
Otherwise, Run it!

Yes, you can get a 'Made in China" copy of the Kennedy. They are painted blue and about $20 cheaper. Try the EMPI dealer nearest you.

I don't recommend it!
Kennedy's the only real game in town for clutches, unless you step out and go big with a custom set up, which is out the $$ range for most folks and not needed either.
With Kennedy being the only real game, supporting any other manufacturer (in this case Chinese stuff) would be like shooting yourself in the foot at this point. If Kennedy goes away whats left? Nothing in my book, I won't run a Chinese clutch.
Let's support what we have, Kennedy makes a great product.

Have done some looking around, and there are alternatives. Nothing as cheap as the KEP, but there are others - Tilton, Sachs, and other high quality products are out there.
How about a 250 dollar carbon clutch?
No, no, that should have read 2500....

Kennedy confirmed a problem with a batch of p/p. They are stand up guys and are taking care of the problem. I'm glad I called them .

Funny this came up. Friend brought his PP by and wanted me to take a look. Rivits/diaphram pins loose, loosing adjustment. But clearly see it was over traveled. Inside, you can see where diaphram was hitting the pins causing them to come loose.

So how do we keep from over centering the diaphragm? I personally adhered to the directions provided by KEP, and have the same problem... I had clutch engagement streight when the pedal left the floor I used to be able to engage the clutch somewhere at the end of the pedal travel. I had always adjusted per the Bentley manual. Now It seems that with the directions provided and the Bently are not providing the proper way to adjust.
