We started with a 1970 Hardtop Ghia. We have taken it completely to skeleton and started from the ground up. Removed all rust and replaced with replacement panels. Rebuilt the heater channels and replaced the floor pans. POR 15'd Everything I could. New wheel bearing, ball joints, tie rods, steering damper, bushings, sway bars, shocks, brakes. Hope you enjoy. I know my father and I are.......

Good Job!
Looks like you are planning to use the pre-70 indicators up front. What's planned at the back? The same? or are you keeping the '70 style tail lights?

Thanks for the comments. The tranny was a last minute idea, told my pops lets paint the tranny, he was like what for, i was like your trannys painted, he goes oh well okay, lol. We sealed off the factory turn signal indicators and will be using either the sport headlight they sell at mid-america motorworks or a glass projector setup with HID. Just want to have better visibility and HIDs do that very well. I will use the 70's taillights still. I will try to update pics as they come.

Whats a reasonable sound deadening thats not going to break the bank? I want to literally line all the sheetmetal, plus floor pans trunk, engine bay. So the more i can buy the better. Weight of material is not a factor. Adding 100, hell 200 pounds wouldnt bother me if the price is really good. Make is as quiet as possible... to enjoy a nice set of MB Quart component set playing some Bob Marley..

Rattletrap, I think is reasonable, twice the thickness of Fatmat.

don't have any pics to post, but will tomorrow. We completely rebuilt the pedal assembly with the extended clutch kit and double reinforced accelerator pedal setup from Aircooled parts i believe. They have an ad here on Samba. If I didn't mention on previous posts, we ran all new metal brake lines, new brake hoses, pads, rotors, drums, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake reservoir that sits directly on top of master cylinder. New HD clutch cable as well as new HD accelerator cable. Right now we are in the process of polishing and painting the EMPI Riverias that came with the car when I bought it. We are fully polishing the lip of the wheel then going to primer, paint Gloss black, then clear the wheels. Another member on here did the same to his Riverias but just rattle-canned them and didn't polish the lips fully. So I'm expecting night and day difference. Also bout Empi trigger shifter with the ball handle not T-handle. I bought the 13" one do you guys think thats too tall for a Ghia. its only like 1.5" taller than the SCAT T-handle shifter that was in the car. Never liked the T-shifter. Still have to order the sound deadening material. So much to do.... I'm loving every minute of working on it and hating that I only get to work on it 2 days a week.

Figured I do an update since its been a long time. We finally got all the brakes all sorted, I installed the pedal assembly with the extnended clutch shaft and new double reinforced roller pedal. Also applied GTMAT sound deadening to the the floor plans.

Still need to drill on the aluminum brake and clutch pedals

Looking great!! Awesome work so far. One question though , what are you planning to do about seat runners.?

Are you installing aftermarket seats?

I installed both EMPI F/R Sway Bar. What bend are you talking about? Where should there be a bend?

It only has an adjustable beam stock width, if by taken down to means height? Was going to go drop spindles but didn't want the wider track.

sorry, I didn't mean the height. I meant how far disasembled these cars can be. In your first pic I said "where's the car!"

Ah, I see what your talking about. I purchased the HD Clutch Cable and I also installed the Extended Clutch Pedal. I'll take a look at the cable for the slack you mention.
