With all due respect to Everett! I think this is a great site. Maybe it's time to pool some resources and put together a monthly/bimonthly 'ezine' version of the samba?
The samba is a great resource and all the information is here all at one 'search' away. The drawback is this information and content is like a river, it's constantly flowing. There is ever more projects, ideas, builds, adventures etc and they are always getting replaced by new ones. What about the good ole days? (I vaguely remember soo many great things that have happened...)
The idea of the Ezine is to take snapshots of what is happening, and freeze those moments. Then you could easily click back and say, oh yeah, December 2012 was a great month. This and this happened. Content is king now and we have soo much to choose from here (maybe too much!!).
Also, since the content would be 'frozen' (ie no more posts) it would basically be like an editorialized column/article and have finality (even if it continues on in the samba world).
What do you think? Good bad indifferent?
Only of course if Everett allows this. _________________ 57 PGSG 'Carpet Bus'

Just the ezine, not the samba. Don't want to scare you It would be a separate feature.
If anyone knows or uses an ezine software that is good I want to try something on my own as a test and see how it goes. _________________ 57 PGSG 'Carpet Bus'

It's kinda like glitzy RSS feeds, but the content is filtered out and selected more personally. I think there's so much unused manpower here that the idea might work.
Work is a relative term, I find these type of projects fun _________________ 57 PGSG 'Carpet Bus'

| What's wrong with the 'view posts since your last visit'? Seems to me you will be doing a lot of redundant work for little gain. It's your time, if you want the challenge knock yourself out. But honestly, the last thing I want is another email coming in... |

I don't see the point but if you want to do a sample, go for it. _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

I see the value in what he's saying. I spend almost all my time in the 68 and newer beetle forum. I do, however, like and am interested in pretty much all VW's. I wouldn't mind seeing updates of builds from other sub-forums occasionally. It could be kind of like a best of each sub-forum maybe monthly or bi-monthly. It would be an opportunity to see what we might not have time to sift through on our own.
It will definitely be a lot of work |

I'm thinking that if someone doesn't care enough to find/watch threads of interest on his own, a weekly summary isn't going to help.
The "watched topic" feature is really helpful for keeping track of all kinds of threads you don't want to hunt down. _________________ TheSamba.com on Facebook | Donate to TheSamba.com
