Had my windshield installed today by a local guy. $150 installed. I used one of those German shaped seals from CIP1. Fit nice and tight on teh glass, but I think the glass in the corners is a little off as the seal is a bit puckered in the lower corners. Will post pix soon.

I had a local guy come out and make a pattern of my windshield area and cut one from it. $60. I think I'll ask him to come install it this week. I put several bus windshields in but after busting one of these.....I'm a little gun shy. Glad you got yours worked out Dan!
EDIT:: Thought I should mention - he said that the window is not symmetrical - there is an "out" side and an "in" side to the glass. If you flip it - crack!

I'm trying to decide what to do with my wheels. I had them powder coated in an ivory color. Once the caps and trim rings are installed, the center section is all that will be showing. What color was this area originally? I can't decide which would look better here - the red or ivory. I plan on running wide white wall tires too. Any have pictures that could help me decide? Thanks!

| Well if you really get down to it, those aren't the right Beauty Rings. The originals didn't cover the outer area of the rim. I had the same style on my Convertible for a while and decided to remove them. I can only say the rings will trash your nice new Powder Coated Rims, by scratching the heck out them where they mount. It's also amazing how much road dirk they trap under them as well. There's some pictures in the Archives of Convetibles. But I think you should do what you feel like. I have all Ivory on my, but I'm leaning towards a 2 tone. |

Yah - I noticed once they got here that they are much deeper than the originals. I'm pretty sure that even the correct ones would scratch the wheel so I'm not sure that can't be avoided. (at $40 a wheel for coating it does make me cringe) I honestly like the extra amount of bling so I'll probably keep them.

| Originally the outer rim was black on convertibles and they came with beauty rings. The center color would accent the cars color. WW has color chart to tell what it would have been for your car. |

If you look at this convertible you can see what I'm talking about when I say the Beauty Ring didn't come all the way to the edge of the rim. Also not sure if all convertible wheels were painted the same way.

From what I have read, at least on my Alabaster '60, was that the outer rim was stone beige and the inner alabaster.

I see that you are referring to where the rim meets the rubber - that edge shows with the original rings. I think I'm going to paint the centers the same red as the car and let the white wall add the pop. I think if I left the center ivory it would be too much with the white wall. I'm not going stock Nazi on this one.

I wanted to throw in on this handle discussion -
My original handle had pitted chrome and rotted rubber. I took it apart to get the main spring steel bar/assembly out. I then took apart a new repro handle (too big handle) and used the rubber and chrome ends on my old core. Trim the rubber down a bit and viola!

Wow I keep learning here. Here's a pic of the original grab handle that came of my car. Looks like the 'rubber' with chrome end caps. My car was built December 1959.
The one that is installed now might be a sedan handle I will check with the guys which are building the car. Any ideas on how to refursbish the original one?
@ralph64vert thanks for the compliment but almost the only skill I use on this build is paying the bills and some part searching and cleaning here and there!  I wish I had the skills to do all this work!
@lovethatconvertible to be honest I can't tell you if the loom ran that way. I can try to go through the pics before resto this weekend and check. Anyone here might be able to tell?
How about my decal question (which one and where on a 60 vert?)? Anyone? |

Just got my headliner, pad, top, and boot in the mail!! No instructions included. Uuuugh. I have the Bentley but does anyone have another set of instructions? Thanks!
EDIT:: Stab my face! My bentley is for 58-60. My car/top is the later 60 style. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

| He does have the earlier top, but in theory they're pretty much the same as far as building the top up from headliner on out. You just don't need that expensive A*@ Main Bow |

Yah - I guess this one was cheap - haha! I'm mostly concerned with where/how the headliner attaches at the front bow and the spacing for all the other bows. I'll be calling Chuck in the morning.

Anyone have issues with their quarter windows?
On mine if I have the lined up proper to the top they want to hang up on the regulator mounting points as I roll them up, however if I adjust them out so they clear the regulator then they don't line up with the top frame and hang out. Any tips?
Also, what is the best way to store the top? I have my car under a carport and it is covered, is it best to store it with the top closed (meaning up and latched), closed but unlatched, or open and covered by the boot?
