|
|
I have just taken my injectors to be cleaned and serviced by a local specialist, out of the 8 I gave him he managed to get 4 working nicely but he can't get hold of the rubber seals for them.
Before I start ringing around the usual suspects can anyone recommend a source for new Type 3 fuel injector seals in the UK?
I only need the small ones not the big ones that fit in the Bakelite support.
Thanks! |

I think L Jet seals are slightly different. _________________ Give A Pal a Hand!

| L-jet and even the Wasserboxer uses the same injector seals as Type 3. Should be available from any well stocked supplier in the UK. Try GSF |

Virtually all of the D-jet seals made suck except for the Echlin brand from NAPA which are overpriced and have to be ordered. I quit using D-jet injector seals about 20 years ago and went to CIS donut seals made of Voton (the green ones are best the black ones are fine). yes they fit very tight around the injector tip but seal much better than any D-jet seal and last ages...and are cheaper.
You can ask for seals for an 80 model rabbit/golf with CIS...or an 83 Saab 900 with CIS...or even a 90 model fox with CIS. I know those are for sure using the CIS system...but there were a zillin other cars through the 80's that used these seals. Ray |

Good information thanks. Hunting for all of the above I tracked down a d jet seal set from the US it includes the plastic Bakelite mounts which won me over as one of mine is snapped in two.
My injectors are back and serviced. Just need to sort the fuel pressure and I'll be laughing. Hopefully... |

The real original D-jet seals are molded....and kind of look like a soft version of two o-rings stacked from the side. The gap between the end of the injector and the ID of the seal is minimal...maybe 1.0-1.5mm at most...and they are of the proper thickness so that when they crush down they contact the injector barrel and seal well and keep it centered in the port.
For the most part...most available d-jet seals for a very long time have had 2.0mm+ extra ID and they squirm and seem to be not exact thickness to crush down and seal well. Bluntly put...most appear to be simply slices of tube.
The CIS seals fit very tight around teh injector body...in fact you will need oil to get them on...and are slightly thicker than the stock D-jet seal. They work very well. Ray |
