Brad's oval update.....................
may 12 at wolfsburg show" springfest"
entered Brad's oval in show, entree #66 but no prize, really didnt expect one. to many insiders voting for each others car, saw it right away when almost every one in certain large groups won 1st or 2nd place. it was a great show and largest ever at that location a total of 202 volkswagens, wow. a lot of nice cars, some unique as well as some in the rough as usual. but it was a good time and time really flew by. bought into the raffle as i always do and this one was good both to me and steve garcia,
i won three times and steve won twice, lots of little stuff but nice, oh and he won at fat guys tee shirt and i won a normal size large shirt so we traded and we both won again. its great when things work out that easy. talked with bob souresby and checked out his beautiful 53 oval, its a real classic as everybody knows. as people were leaving i had a chance to move Brad's car next to bobs for a photo shoot. photos will be posted by somebody who knows how, dammit.

The two cars side by side look awesome!
Owen, something I kinda remember from around 2005 is that Bob gave Brad an ADAC badge like he has on his car, at the Porsche toy and lit show. Is it still around? |

the ADAC badge and another vw badge from 2005 are affixed with adhesive to glove compartment door where Brad had placed them. after the paint job was done i placed them in the same position Brad had them and they are there for everyone to see.

Hi Owen,
Here is a link to the badge I gave Brad. It is the one Erik is referring to. I don't remember seeing it on the car.

I know that meant a lot to him that you gave him that badge. He had been eyeing it all day! |

Brad was out of work at that time and really needed his money for other things. I had a high price on it, hoping to snag a Porsche guy at the show, and Brad kept coming back and driving off the buyers. I had to give it to him. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

the ADAC badge on Brad's glove compartment door is a square shaped brass badge with ADAC curved around the top of it. the globe in the center with a steering wheel inside the globe and 19 to the left of the globe and 53 to the right of it. i dont remember seeing a round one like the one in your link. but ill keep my eyes open for it.

Brad's baja update..................
had car out in desert again for two days and had no problems at all, so no big story to tell. i had fixed and/or modified several things on the baja since the last trip and i didnt want to go through that kind of trouble again. put stock steering wheel with grip cover over it and it handles much better than small 12" wheel that was there. put steering stops in position to keep tires from contact with pan, so hard right and hard left tires are still 3" from pan and turning radius is still great. adjusted beam up and gained more travel on the front shocks after removing the 700/15 tires Brad had put on the car, replaced them with 225/75R15 which are not as tall as the 700 but the steering and ride is much better. a little of alignment work and the car steers and rides much better. didnt get much a chance to raise hell though, spent most of the time at ramco racing a vw offroad shop in landers working on a friends buggie which he calls the silver bullit. new trans and engine reinstall, cv joint rebuilds etc. has 2100 with fuel injection, computer and a lot of other non stock stuff, fn***** car is to fast for me to ride in. but i did manage to take a nap in the baja with my feet hanging out the passenger window while parked in the shop. yea nice.

Looking forward to driving down there for the Classic weekend, and cruising with you guys on the HBB memorial cruise! I haven't seen the oval all dolled up yet, so that's going to be great. It's also going to be cool to finally have my bug down there, after a few years of trying and not being ready. Seeya soon! _________________ -Thomas
