I meant to write down the repair manual that everyone tells newbies to get, but I haven't. I just spent an hour reviewing forum topics but cannot find where anyone recommends one. I need to order one and I would like to get a good one. What is the best one for exploded views and electrical schematics. Thanks _________________ 1973 914 2L Ravenna Green |

The best one for exploded views and such are the Porsche 914 factory manuals. These come in a set of 6 binders and contain 9 sections - Section 1, engine & clutch through Section 9, electrical system. Sorry to report that nobody has reprinted them like Bentley did with the VW service manuals. If you want the whole set, they can run upwards of $400. I've seen some folks offer a CD with the manuals scanned for $30 but never bought one. I held out for the real deal. You best bet in the mean time is to order the Haynes manual. Check Amazon for others that are available. _________________ Doug

The Clymer can be a good reference...bit beware that they are notoriously generalized across years and can be rather incomplete. I would err...as you seem to be...on getting as many sources as are available. Comparison will reveal the gaps. Ray |

I've got two old 914 manuals both listed as 1970-72 914/4. One from Drake and another from Carbooks. They seem to be pretty decent. Anyone see these in the past? These were both printed in the early 70's and seem to be decent. _________________ 1969 Beetle, turbo 1915
