any idea as to what to do to get them unstuck? its a safety factor right now because the owner cant get to the brakes and even i as small and skinny as i am cant get under the steering wheel. and it isnt budging. tried soaking as much of the rails in both front seats with wd40 for well over 4 hours and nothing. the seats are being replaced with highbacks any how but i dont want to destroy the original seat frames. any suggestions? _________________ 1966 Sedan (Dad owned in Germany '74-'75)

I have run into that problem before. First 4 hours is not long enough. I would try a couple of days for the soak.
Second get a 2X4 and put it against the seat frame where you will not damage your seat covers. Try hitting the 2X4 with a small hand sledge. It should loosen up.
Make sure the seat lock is off and the spring is out. _________________ 1971 Ghia Convertible Autostick

The best stuff for freeing rusted parts is a 50 50 mix of acetone and auto transmission fluid. I swear !. _________________ Rick '71 Westfalia & '73 Thing |

| Mine used to be stuck. I just had a buddy get in the back and push forward while I was in the front pulling... once they broke loose they moved fine. |

| don't forget there are "stop" tabs on each side. once they move, will only go so far, have to hold "tab" down while sliding the rest of the way off the tracks. near tunnel on drivers side, both I think |
