is it possible to re-install the original windows after they have been modified?
ones piece windows SUCK!. water just pores in when you wash it! the scrapers just end and there is a big gap for everything to just go down the door!
on top of that, im really missing my wing windows.
i was not fully on board with this idea, it was my dads contribution but i agreed. now i'm getting sick of them!
it will be awhile before i can actually do anything about it, got alot on my VW to do list but i think about this every time i drive it.
at least it looks good. really good! but Uggh...

When you install one peice windows you have to cut out the wing window channel. unless your an awesome welder, the only way I know how to go back to having wing windows is to replace the doors.
Unfortunately just another unreverseable mod that plauged vws in the 80's. _________________ WANTED: Henry Veale Santa Rosa plate frames

| On a 73 you can just reinstall the window parts. No welding necessary. |

You don't need the tab. It's not essential.
I just read your other post about getting up the hill and rebuilding your motor.
and I'm psychic... |

The tab has nothing to do with mounting the quarter windows, its only there to stop the inner and outer door skins flexing.
Myself and hundreds of others have made the swap back, once You refit the old quarter windows you will never even know the tab was cut. |

Friends don't let friends one piece their windows; and neither should strangers on the internet. Let this be a lesson to everybody. _________________ - e

| Mine came with one piece windows...I hate em. I am working out a hopeful trade for some good stock doors with good two piece windows...just need a few seals and paint (along with the rest of my car). |

If they're done halfass then, yes they will suck. If they are installed with the correct regulator and if the underside of the front of the scrapers are cut and the scrapers are radiused to match the curve of the door then they work great.
There was a nice article on this on someone's resto site but I can't find it. But the point is they can be done right if they're done right. _________________ Remember, kids------> KCR Transmissions SUCKS |

| i don't think you understand, it just does not work like that. they either suck or suck even more. idk if you have them, but if you do, you obviously got a better company than i did. the seals arent my only concern though. |

I do understand. It does work like that. I have a set. If they are installed properly, like mine, with the proper parts, then they work fine. If they are not, then they will suck.
I don't know what 'company' made mine. They're just a flat piece of glass.
Also, there are felt channels. My felt channels are getting pretty ratty but I've had the car for over 12 years and they were on it when I got it so that's understandable. New felt channels are available in the aftermarket. The clips that hold them in, too.
My car came with single-point-lift regulators which did suck but I've since replaced them with genuine VW two-point-lift regulators. They are adjusted correctly so the windows roll up and down smoothly and fit the frame when they are rolled up. They are available in the classifieds or at the junkyard.
I also have a set of scrapers, the underside of which have been cut at the front and rear so that they can be bent to match the radius of the window frames. The scrapers, also, can be found in the aftermarket.
That's pretty much it. That's all the kit is. Glass, scrapers, and felt channels. The user supplies the regulators and sashes. What's the problem with yours? _________________ Remember, kids------> KCR Transmissions SUCKS

| Just be thankful that he didn't take a sawz-all and cut the roof off in the name of "Kool", I've seen a lot of kids do that to the VW's their parents bought for them. |
