Just a question about how you did the dash. Did you fill in the holes, how did

you adhere it, and anything behind the vinyl or just straight to the metal?

I Like the idea of covering the dash that way, I too don't care for the

plastic woodgrain dash.

thanks johnnycrash! Smile where about do your relatives live?

yeoldluke, i purchased a black dash face to install in the car prior to covering that with the vinyl.

i dont think gluing the vinyl directly to the metal dash would have worked too well because of all the voids.

you could also glue some 4mm closed cell foam to the dash before gluing the vinyl to that.

I look forward to seeing your car as it progresses. I saw that kgpr started selling those turn signals last year, I like how they look in your car.

this is the original matching numbers motor, it was cleaned up and checked for cracks ect.. and it looked really clean inside. so internals are still 1600dp. the carbs and exhaust should give it a little more kick, i will be happy with that until the car is registered and on the road.

then, when there is nothing else to tinker with, the motor will come back out for a 1776 build Smile

got a set of Talbot replicas to bolt to the doors. I went for replicas because I read on the net that they were all but useless on a ghia because of the angle at which they sit, so i didnt have any issues chopping up some replicas to fit at the angle i wanted (just couldnt bring myself to do that to a set of $500+ mirrors) Shocked Shocked

(Sorry about the crappy pics)

some progress on the car:

i have replaced the gear bushing and the rear coupler rubbers which were perished and the shifter feels much tighter, hopefully i will notice the difference when i finally drive her.

wating on more parts from the US,

the tmi interior has arrived, and i have begun to put it in starting with the back seat.

never mind the fit in the picture, i had run out of staples and was just curious of how it looked in the car

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

exhaust is on and the ghia was lowered 2 outer spline notches and lowered spindles with narrowed and ajustable beam on the front

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

new ball joints have been installed as well as the tie rod ends

got me some replica Fuchs to go on as soon as i can find some local 5x130 drums and disks

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

all in all i think its coming together nicely, i just wish i had more time to work on her as the list to get her running and registered is still pretty long. Sad

That's a familiar Ghia, did you buy it from Rod on Wollongong? Nice car and you are doing a great job on it.

Will you have it ready for the Nationals in Sydney on the 28th May? I'll have my '64 Ghia there, be great to see yours there if it is ready, it looks so close to being done.
