That was fun for sure! I was bummed that Sam and I had to leave so early on Saturday but we had to get back for a baseball game. _________________ 89 Syncro Westy - GW 2.5

Heyo amigos,
A fine time was had by all at the 2nd Vannual Silver Falls Samba campout. We will do this again next May, stay tuned. A few photos, and a link to more, are below. A BIG thanks to all who came, esp "One More Islander" (Kathy and Morgan) from British Columbia, who get the Big Traveler award. 1621, you were there in spirit, we missed you. Fly in from Japan next year, will you?
Lots more photos:

Enjoy,

Many thanks to CJ for another successful SF campout, and great to get to know a little better some of the greater Pdx/VanWa crowd plus those from BC and the regional surrounds.
This event should continue and I suspect will grow ... the first few Maupin RendezVw's got a handful of rigs and now is limited to 75
Since it was my first time, one for two, I thought the setting was great as was everything else including the potluck.
And I enjoyed being one of the resident geezer-hippie mascots divulging dubious technical tips and spinning tall yarns. Look forward to it next year if I'm not twirling off a mesa in the Moab at syncrosolstice with "Wild" Bill Langan (from CA), "Crazy" David Hines and "Psycho" Jeffrey Carter. |

You gonna rally with me to Moab for SyncroZest Bob?
Sorry to have missed it, especially the out of town guests OneMoreIslander. That is what this thread is all about. I love it.
That is such a killer spot Jon, thanks so much for putting this event together while I was protecting the flow of power to the free world. Great pics....
I especially liked this one
How thoughtful of you.
Bob, I am 1 for 2 as well, so, for once we are even. I may be on my way to catching up to you, though, as I have just discovered 2 more super cheap Syncro's locally. One is a 1991 Tintop, the other, a lowly 87 Syncro Westy. Wife says I can get them, but, you know the drill, something else has to go. I will know more in a few weeks after SyncroZest Moab! _________________ Jeffrey Carter PDX Thread

Syncros are like potato chips ... you can't just have one. Great investments , great fun , will empty the bank account
Now ... where did you say those two were located ? .... and while you were gone I ... I ... I ... scored !!! |

Arrigato gozaimus! Thanks for holding my spot and marking it with the DEW! Hah, I recall CJ, GWTWTLW, and I enjoying an entire bottle while sitting out a little rain in my van one night. John was a little green around the gills the next morning as he had about two too many. Damn, I miss camping with you guys!
Cheers to all, and I'll be back in action come July! _________________ '85 Westy

I've been on the fence about keeping mine as its a lot of work that I've never had to deal with.

Yes... Definite fun!
For all of you who left early Sunday, you missed my triumphant departure from the festivities. Yes....I was hit with a bout of syncro envy, so I tried to see how much stuff I could run over with my 2wd while leaving the campground. Fortunately, my paltry attempt at "rock crawling" left very little damage. For the life of me I don't know how this happened. The fire pit was concrete filled and weighed about 400 lbs. Thanks Ty for running to help, and thanks JC for running for the camera. Cheers!

I had to grab the camera for this priceless moment. Rick you should post the picture of you and Ty pulling the ring out from under the Vanagon. Great action photo indeed. _________________ J.C.

Nicely done Rick! Apparently, you'd been sipping the Dew as well.

This is one of my favorites. Rick gets the Fire Ring repositioning award for 2012 Wait is that a 22" rim that you are trying to fit on there? _________________ J.C.
