| the frame work is very stout and not sagging .but I am concerned about the trailer tipping from side to side when the slide out are out fully and then when the bunks are folded out even more leverage to tip the thing more . they show out riggers on the frame but nothing on the slide outs ? |

| Very cool. Keep up the momentum, it'll be cool to see it finished. |

Just purchased this 1967 Heilite Viking last month. A shot from the trip back, in Northern California.

For you guys in Wisconsin....I got this email, don't know the guys so contact him directly:
| Quote: | Bought one of these about a decade ago that I used to tow with my Goldwing. Looks identical to this model(http://vintagewarehouse.com/Trailersforsale.html) minus the kitchen kit. I also had it painted to match the color of my bike, added new rear lights and turn signals etc. I don’t have any pictures handy to send.
However if there is an ‘collector’ market for these I have one that someone can have for free if they want to haul it away. For ease it’s located near Adams Wisconsin.
It was in good shape when I bought it, however it was ransacked a few years ago by people after a tornado went through the area. Other than the wheels it’s pretty much intact(canvas may need replacing at this point though).
So if you know someone that may want it you can put them in contact with me.
Sincerely,

My dad and I picked up a pair single wheel heilite trailers a few months ago. One all original and complete with canvas, stored indoors all it's life, one used as a utility trailer and all rotten... I've been restoring the basket case, and it's almost ready to roll. New floor, new lights/ wiring, powder coated rim, tubeless tire, and new old stock bearings
I still need to fab some hitch brackets for my bug, and I'd like to eventually make it back into a camper. _________________ '69 Bug,'71 Bus,'61 Bug ,'56 Bug, '66 Panel |

Here are a couple pictures of the trailers
The one I'm restoring:
Here are the hitch bracket's I'm in the middle of fabricating.
I still need to figure out how I'm going to make some 1" ball hitches. I've only got one good one to copy. Right now I'm thinking about picking up a 1" ball bearing (like from a pinball machine) and drilling it out and pressing/ welding a bolt to it to make a replica tow ball. _________________ '69 Bug,'71 Bus,'61 Bug ,'56 Bug, '66 Panel |

I've been enjoying my 1957 single wheel Heilite Travel Trailer but...
I don't have a spare Rim / Tire.
Makes it kind of scary only having the one wheel and not being able to travel to far from home.
I've been to most all the website and have contacted multiple trailer places with no luck.
Does anyone have info of where to find a "Spare Rim" or parts for the Wheel such as bearings / axle ?
Any leads would be much appreciated. |

What's everyone using for tires on their single wheel heilite? Mine has a 5.00 - 8 tire on it and the spare. I found 4.80 - 8, I know its not much different but have you seen the 5.00 available?
Also should I run a tube like I do on my Allstate or go tubeless like the heilite is currently?
What benefits or draw backs are there to either? I will most likely do my own mounting like I usually do and I know how much easier it is to get the tire seated with a tube. |

| Bought a 4.80 - 8 tire and tube. Don't see much of a difference in size, I plan on mounting it myself tonight. These small trailer tires are my least liked tires to dismount, they can be a real pain. |

Done. Tire was softer than most I've come across on vintage trailers so it came off easy. I only put the tube in the wrong way once. Lol.
Now to tow it up to our local cruise night. I'd post pics but I'm towing it with my Corvan, my bug never seams to put itself together. |

Just got one today, 1963
Dont know much about it and still need to open it up but its all there, the guy said the canvas "shrank" and its hard to put on. Needs a few patches and mesh replaced.
Anyone ever heard of the canvas shrinking? If so can it be fixed?
I would like to use it and not have to have a new one made if I dont have to.

Thanks.
I was wondering if I could lower it without destroying it (reversible). Im sure it can be, just need to modify the legs or make new ones.
Should polish up nicely.
Would be cool behind my lowered falcon wagon. _________________ Click to view image |
