Looking for a CD player that I can plug into the back of my radio, but keep in the glove box. My radio has hookups for this.

Doesn't have to be top of the line, but just having a hard time finding them on the web.

Does anyone still use CDs? I haven't played one in years. My iPod carries all the music I own, plus podcasts, nightly news downloads, etc.

Nah, I still use cassettes. Both in my 1971 VW and in my 1988 Mazda truck.

Maybe it's time to update them to MP3?

I have over 500 cds... It was a long tedious process ripping them to MP3 but at least my vws arent filled with cd's, cases, ect., anymore...

I still use cassettes in my Sedan 1994. My genuine VW Beta radio (by Grundig) was the last one made with cassette player.

Webdawg, that retro sound thing should have an auxiliary jack on the back, you could just plug a discman if they still exist in and sit it in the glovebox but like the others said an Mp3 player would be so much easier.

I haven't had a CD in my cars for years either, I'd be lost without my iPod.

What is a good MP3 player that I can plug into the back of my radio using the auxillary jacks? One that I can hide in my glovebox?

That is OK Webdog, I too have been behind the times since day one!

I recently learned how to convert CD's into MP3 format and get ten cd's on one and play them in my Harley's player! Crying or Very sad Shocked

I was looking at a JVC media head unit, no cd player at all, just Bluetooth and USB, with iPod control and even Pandora control with an android phone. Don't even need to take the phone out of your pocket. $100.

Of course if you just want a basic mp3 player, there are plenty on amazon for cheap without having to go the iPod route. Look around for something that fits your budget and other requirements and look at the ratings.

That's going to work much better than a cd player in the glove box.

this is not impossible, but car stereos are generally meant to feed audio to the speakers...

start here

http://www.amazon.com/Headphone-Adapter-Female-Jac...amp;sr=8-7

then this.
http://www.amazon.com/Cables-To-Go-Stereo-Y-Cable/...mp;sr=1-21

connect to the amp output, it might work, but the volume might not be right, i don't know how much power it outputs.

OK. I bought this FM Modulator http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QBG614/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

and this MP3 player http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MAPT7U/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

hooked everything up correctly and it doesn't work. I think the problem is that I have to tune my radio to either 88.3 or 87.9 and thay have a lot of static.

It's their just a plain old CD player I can plug into the back of my existing stereo and have the sound come out my speakers? I have those red and white outlets back there. 3 sets of them.

Thanks

are they "out"lets or inputs. can you post the model of your stereo? i can help you then. and there is no difference between hooking up a cd player and an mp3 player. if you have an AUX input. you bought a good mp3 player. tell me the model and ill tell you how to hook it up right.

Ya know I've read some where that you can get an fm broadcaster that attaches to the stereo out, and then you can have stereo reciever headphones on.

he said he has the Aux in ports ( i believe you, blush)

so get a CD/DVD -mp3 rated deck
and plug it in
that way, you can do like in my garage and play 2000 Mp3 on one DVD disc
A Denon. the random button is so cool. 2000 behind it..

you can rip your CD CDA discs to mp3 and put them on a flash stick
and plug them all in at once, the whole collection. (or lots of ways )
use WINAMP. to do that, or anyone of 1000s of other apps .
i bet your old CDA discs all fit on one DVD, am i right.? (size matters)

own your own MP3 , and do it. a stick full of MP3 files. or on a DVD.
the dvd holds 4g to 8gig of music. vast.

if you have the RCA line inputs ( you can run any deck, made) RCA jacks not fiber, coax and others custom formats.

i'd go flash stick, and forget legacy. that way your masters last a life time.
the deck needs to be the brands that work with bouncing skips.
the early decks are useless. (90s decks suck)

is this not IT? This is a real DECK (component CD DECK )

http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-Car-1DIN-In-Dash-One-Din...1e6e5a5f9f

http://www.amazon.com/DW-KA656D-PLAYER-Remote-Mount-Stereo-Player/dp/B007UTWYY4

hard to find, because all cars have the USB port
so you plug in and listen, FLASH is the end.
small cheap and nothing scattered all over...... glove box full...
the DVD is slow. and funky
the flash is well fast.
you can code your mp3 so all the titles work (free online)
you then can even use CLASS menus

Country
Western
R&B
some player all allow menus;. so if that is your BAG the check that out.

I have a Mp3 wireless server in my home with all that and lots more.
Android rules.

Cassette mag to line out sucks, NO BASS !

the FM broadcaster works but you must get one for an off channel
and if you travel and you land on THAT channel it fails. Carrier collision and hetrodyning fail (like on CB when 2 people key up same time )
i have one, bought 4 at that era. and 1 works good.
it is fussy and you will never really like it, it's so MARCONI.

get a USB stick port radio and stop fooling around. walmart. is your ploy.
you now have every path. oops one more

windows CE media car computer in the dash and mp3 server in the trunk.
or just put em, on the HDD in the computer head end.
truck sever:?
so if they steal the head, maybe the server will not be found.? hide it well.
ponder that,.

way and means, audio..... out.
PS
and safety no car crashes swapping CDA. or scratched up. or sat on and cracked.
in fact voice command NEXT !
