jeez
well, besides the huge amount of metal milled off, one thing that is unusual is I cannot see the seat under the intake valve........is the valve bigger than the seat??? that's just WRONG dude! Laughing

I don't know if there is even a seat under them, I'll pull the valves today and post up some more pics. Perhaps they thought it prevents dropping a seat if there's none there to begin with Laughing

I haven't CC'd them yet but they are really small, great squish areas, but the engine had huge deck on it so not much squish going on Rolling Eyes

well that's exactly it man, see, the only way you'd actually have quench is if you ran tight deck, which you can't unless you want 12-1 cr............so you'd actually be better off to hemi-cut it Laughing

Some small engines run the valve right on the aluminum, but I think you'll find a seat under there, the valve is just probably a bit bigger than the seat ought to have on it

so, ah, whatcha gonna do with em? doorstops? I'd say table lamp but that would be one but ugly lamp

Don't really know yet, I was going to practice some porting etc on them but they've already been done, not badly mind you but done, I'll zip out to the workshop now and pull the valves if I can find something to compress the springs

Modok, if 66brm hemi cuts those heads won't that leave very little chamber thickness to act as a heat dam? Wouldn't it make the head less thermally stable and more prone to cracking? Or am I imagining things while I'm daydreaming?

well, yeah, your right Mr Dearth.
The heads are so thin now there is already danger of it leaking IMO, if they are flycut over .125 the cylinder is only sitting on half a cooling fin in some areas

multi-angle valve job with the seat area clear out over the aluminum!

I have my suspicions as to who built these heads, as we are so isolated from the world here its fairly easy to narrow down, and only two who have welded heads in the past, 1 guy I know well (worked for him for a bit) the other is an aquaintance.

Guess I'll start piecing the 2007cc together over the next few months, pretty much got the shopping list down now

78mm bugpack crank
5.4" I beam rods
90.5 B P&C's
Webcam 163
L5 heads

With the case faced to get the deck I'm after and CR, it should be a fairly smooth driver with a poke when required

Pulled the trigger on the first order from John this morning, still wondering if I'm going to run the web 163, or whether it would be better to step up to a web 110

Definately going with the L5's, just thinking I could go a little more aggressive on the cam..........

Well, I guess to state the obvious, Web can do custom grinds. You might try giving them a call (I guess they don't do e-mail) and see if Web might suggest something a little different.

Had a quick email chat with John(ACNet) and he likes the original plans but with the upgrade to L5 heads as everyone was suggesting so, its 78 x 90.5, bugpack crank, rods, mahle B p&c's, web 163, L5's, 1.25:1 rockers, 8.5:1 SCR.

Hmm hadn't thought about lifters.........probably CB lightweights unless they are incompatible with Web cams? probably Manton thin wall pushrods also (I like being able to adjust valves without a feeler guage)

Jetting initially? I'm thinking 52-55 idles, 125 mains, 185 airs,F11, 40idf's with 30mm vents?

the CB lifters and web cams get along fine.
I have been running those cb lifters since they became available, whenever that was...... 6 or 7 years ago? something like that

I would not go with a 110 knock off in the Web Cam (163). You are kinda limited with your carbs being 40's. Go as large as you can with them in mind. I ran a 110 Engle with my setup and then ahd 40's which is similar to yours. It will run out of poop at about 5500 at best. It would have great torque as well as mine did but you will want more. If you are staying with 40x35' heads I think they would be plenty and are pretty cheap for a driver. The cam I would go would be an Engle 120 with their new lifters. I like the total lift at 294 and .050 at 253. Bigger engine likes more duration for rev-ability. I would definitely not use a 163. Boring! Web 110 is better and would do that one if you have to stay Web. The 256 at .050 I like with it. I run the Engle 130 and love it. You have to run 44's though or your idle will suck and it gives you a short power band. With you 40's I'd go to 34 vents with the 120 or with the longer duration cams. The 130 with mine has a little less lowend but man where the 110 ran out of breath the 130 is still producing huge power and up to almost 7000 r's.
Go with 9.1 C/R and a tight deck. You may have to take out some cc in the chamber but it will be worth it.

i've got a Web 163 and lifters herfor my 2021cc. i went back and forth on cams forever. i boiled it down to the 163 or the 86b and run 1.25s. 86b(1.4/1.5 cam) with 1.25s has pretty similar lift numbers as the 163 with 1.25s but BEFORE i got new heads and if i had it to do over again i'd probably choose the 86b...ken....

I currently run an Engle W110 in the engine that this will be replacing which is 1600cc with 044 heads, the intention of the engine is to be clean up to 6K, I think the 163 and 110 from web would be in the ball park of what I'm after, I do have the option of upgrading(swapping) a set of 36idf's I have here for a set of 44's that cold potentially end up on this engine, but the whole point is street driveability with good torque, not an all out HP dyno queen.
