That thing is bad ass. My favorite volksrod, loved watching it from post #1. Sounds great and it looks like it hauls _________________ Olga: the Cal look car lost in the PNW

Congrats on getting it operational. I really like the VW hub caps and the beauty rings. And getting back to your reply on the trim, I would have put the badges on too! Looks good, aggressive but still VW, lean design with nothing ridiculous added to compensate for short comings. Looking forward to seeing a vid!
Thanks.
The beauty rings were a thought way back, but so was two tone rims silver and black. The rims looked better all black, then I really wanted red line or at least red portawalls... forgot about the rings... Budget and time kept the red walls off.
Recently while cleaning up "the mess"..I picked the rings up and.... oooooo Oh yeah......Black wheels and stainless rings... these will work quite nice.. Overall appearence is pretty close to what I had originally planned.. The Corvair caps I had planned, never made it into the build, so the 66-67 flat caps... with a slighty beat out center to clear the front hub, and rear nuts.. worked out. _________________ aka Ken

My sweetie is our flag girl this round.... Hell Yeah!
I really, baby it off the line this time, just because I know its faster than the Bomber...
Watch for the puff of smoke out the left side.. that's when I put the Hammer Down... Im pretty sure it puffs out the "Offy" vents on the valve covers could be the exhaust... who cares... My buddy said it looked like it just got mad and then was gone.....You can see the front end snap up too, when the shocks top out.

I was bumping about 80mph. I think a 3.87 or a 4.12 gear would help that be even better. It could pull first and second much longer, and Id have more reserve in third.. . Third it the golden gear so far once you hit it and nail it it pulls just as hard as second. I have some research to do.
I got a year to get another transaxle ready to go....Compared to the last 6 months.. THATS's a piece of cake. In the mean time I'm having some fun!
It really sounds pissed off. Got more deep bark than a regular ole' buzzin half dozen...
Steel in Motion is a little different...No times, grudge only, pin up girls droppin' the rag, first to 1/8 wins. Mostly to show off ya car and have a hell of a time.
Ill go shake it down one night to see what's its got. _________________ aka Ken

Nice to see the vids and watch that machine in motion. And as a gentleman, you have a lovely wife.
Thank you sir.
Ya know... all these exterior pice I forgot some interior pics...
Here are a few explained detail shots.
Suitcase Stereo fit in the back... Moon decal on the vent wing, first of many decals that will be added. Note the cut off framing nail on the vent wing pivot.
Bamboo blind headliner, and burgandy Indian Blanket material..
Silver seats tuck and rolled with burgandy piping, borrowed from my 61 Convertible. (Still pending those hideous plaid seat covers)....
Warning label, Tach, Rat Fink Shifter... 51 Mercury steering wheel center, and starter button in the lighter slot, plus a little Chrome of course
Arrive Alive tag, came from my Pops 71 White Freightliner... had to use it somewhere of course. It reminds me ever time I fill up. It is a popular Truckers term..... Even used in a Dave Dudley song.. "Just a Few More Miles"
Type 3 grilled horn, tired and yellow bloodshot headlights, which may change for clear and half moons.... Not sure yet.
Knuckle welds added to the beam torsion adjusters...
The "Blue Bomber" and "Operation X" ready for Steel In Motion 2012..

Nahhhh
Mooneyes are supposed to be on cool Kustom cars.... Its a lost tradition, that only few of us die hard Hot Rod guys and gals keep going.
I have a many decals to add, just trying to decide what to use where.
My newer U.L.E.V decal on the left front corner of the windshield was a big hit. Ultra Low Emmisions Vehicle.... CARB Certified... hahaha _________________ aka Ken

Man, I've been away too long.
That beast has come a long way in a short time! Awesome work...it looks and sounds great.
I dig that you're rockin' the bamboo blind headliner too and at least some trim/flat black made its way on there. I don't know if you recall my junker from way back on page 4, but I was hounding you about trim black a while back. Sadly, my '65 isn't on the road these days...putting the finishing touches on a body-off that I was forced to do this winter.

Again, beautiful Volksrod!
Yes sir trim black 65... I remember... Nice to see you checkin' back in.
You'll be back on the road before ya know it.....just keep diggin'
Thanks for the props.
It was/is a whirlwind build for me... and I think the small amount of trim black I used ended up looking pretty good... .
You were right...needed a little trim black... _________________ aka Ken

I meant the 120 mph empi one, since my car only "touched" 70 once purely by accident. CARB certified... hilarious! _________________ 63 T1 Ragtop Gulf Blue, Certified abortion
