the weight question is becoming more clear.
we made an instalation made up from an old person scale. the maximum weight that the scale allowed was 120Kg so we made a lever that reduced the force 3x

weight now is somewhere about 800Kg

engine and interior is not in yet, so add a little

That's looking great.

Did you see the thread with the horizontal fan 914 engine.

That is very cool.
I'll be keeping an eye on this build.
Will it run a standard 1600dp or are you planning on something hotter?

How about changing the internals whilst keeping the externals identical?
That way you could run anything that could be developed from a Type 1 block, even up a 2332cc stroker.
Alternatively if you have to be limited to 1584cc as that motor is standard you could fully blue print and tune it i.e. counterweighted crank, lightened flywheel, Engle 110 cam, ratio rockers, 3 angle valve job, extractors, electronic ignition, full flow oil system.
Run the original carb and exhaust when you get MOT but switch over after it's cleared that.
Or are they REALLY picky about it being completely standard?

Ahhh, so there are no modifications allowed.
Are the laws that tough in The Netherlands?

i beleive that one is allowed to tickle the engine only that much. so a little is possible but the percentage of legal hp gain is not that much.
but than again... who will know what you did after the MOT. only when you fly over the motorway with speeds above 200mph.

i've heard different stories about how picky they are. best to keep to the rules and get it through.

You can turn a Kafer into a renault Alpine, but you can't bump the displacement on the engine..... Confused How would they know, especially on a VW wngine.

i'm already pushing it i think. in holland we've got the "1/3 rule" you are allowed to change one of the three following things on a car
1 body
2 chassis
3 drivetrain

as i chose a 1303 i had to build a new mount for the front springs. the springs are a part of the chassis. so i am already a bit over the 1/3 rule. luckily the RDW ( dutch MOT ) saw the site and concluded it is most likely going to pass the test.

if it is possible i would really like to put in a bigger engine... subaru and alfa is going to fit i heard( i smell the rubber allready ). anyway... first i'll try to get it on the road and later i'll see if it is possible to up the power and make it go faster than 80mph Confused

still busy with the project eventhough i post less and less. if you are still interrested i've made a facebook page. just look for daartechniek and become a bff. uploading is so much easier via Phone and is done more frequently.

atm doing the doors, so the rubbers can seal it and keep me dry. the boot has taken shape and fits quite nicely. hopefully this summer it gets its colours. but the "small" thing are not so small expressed in time.

hopefully see you on facebook (DaAr techniek)

cheers daartechniek[/url]
