Picked her up from the mechanic after leaving her there for a week. A week that made me realize I treat my car like she's my small child. I had separation anxiety. lol. Let's see... replaced rotor and cap, fixed the drivers seat so the back will sit up straight, fixed bushings in shifter or transmission? Not sure which but now I don't have to fight to get into reverse and first. Swapped the trigger shifter out for the original shifter while it was off. Got some horrifying hair standing on end, squeaks out of the doors. Windows were tightened up and lubed so now they work and the window crank knob back on (it popped off the first time I tried to roll down the window and it didn't want to go). Then I did a dumb, dumb thing. I drove it to a touchless car wash. Once in I couldn't get out and the force of the water blew my drain hose off and the passenger side floor flooded with about 2 inches of water! Brought her home and started wet vacuuming her and ran some errands in 90 degree heat with the heater blowing on that side of the floor. Today is our only dry day, so I will have the doors open and possibly just take out the carpet to dry. Embarassed

At an alignment shop having the front wheel toe-in and camber set on a real machine. It's a bit scary having someone else work on my car.

I did the tape measure adjustment for toe-in on my 64 Beetle several years ago, then took it to an alignment shop to be checked. All was well, and I have always done the alignment myself since! But there is always the peace of mind knowing for sure that it was done right...

New points, cap, rotor, plug wires, cleaned the plugs, new fuel filter, snugged up the exhaust, , synchronized the carburetors, put fresh oil in the air cleaner, scraped bird shit off the roof and splattered the windshield with bugs. Very Happy

I've been averaging driving it over 400 miles a week recently, so I figured I owe it something.

After the fan housing came loose last friday and the car sat at work for a week(still ran but was grinding the housing) Rented a trailer and after the 3rd attempt got it on the Uhaul car trailer brought it home. Sure sucked not walking outside and seeing my ride at the house. Motor comes out and a new clutch new seals all around. Clean the motor up re torque everything and cruise it again.

Gee, it must be nice to go to a car show or cruise-in and see other VWs! When I lived in Goldsboro, North Carolina, I was the only VW/foreign car to show up at all the local shows. All the other cars were street rods, muscle cars, and pickup trucks. I would have to drive a couple of hours to get to see other VWs.

Hopefully, when I move back to the States in a couple of years, it will be to an area that is a little more sophisticated than Goldsboro...

Just recently got my type 3 and went to a VW show. I was the only fastback there, but it was fun. 2nd show, I was the only VW, third show there were 2 beetles and me and muscle cars. Smile I'm hoping to go to at least one big VW show in CT this summer.

Yes, I'm either going to Litchfield or the Terryville show. Haven't figured out which one yet. Smile
