Recently installed a fuel pump block off plate. Removal of the pump also removed gasket, spacer, a plastic "funnel" shaped part, and the actuator rod. The only item installed now is the plate, with gasket and nuts.

Should I have left the plastic funnel-piece in there? I've done some reading on here and trying to figure out if my 1600DP motor needs that to help maintain oil pressure? Any insight into this appreciated.... cheers! - Ari

You can run a hose from that to the breather if you want the engine to breathe better but with a stock 1600 it won't make much difference.

That little "funnel" piece is the fuel pump stand and you don't need it when you are running an electric fuel pump and a block off.

You are good to go. Smile

I would go a head and put the distributer block back in, if you have some spare time. With out it, you may pull the distributer drive out of mesh when you pull the distibuter. Not likely, but it could happen. Also, unless you want your engine covered with a fine mist of oil, you should change where your breather is. You can put a longer hose on it and let it dangle below the motor.

What is a "distributor block" ???

As for the oil, it had nothing on it before so this is an improvement from what was there before (Nothing but an open port). Re-routing it down the road is a possible to-do item.

Here is a photo, from my other thread, during the day, showing the motor more clearly...

Route the vent to the air cleaner like the OG engineering.

Mike my air cleaners don't have any ports such sadly, or I would.

Shaka,

The distributor block is that little blackish/brown funnel piece that you mentioned. You don't have to use it, but I like to keep it in for insurance.

As Mike said, the best way to setup your breather is to run it to the top of the aircleaner. Here is an easy way to do it.

http://cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=137

Just drill a hole in the top of one aircleaner (centered over carb opening) and install one of these. Will keep you and your engine happier.

Drilling the bottom would look cleaner.

Mike,

I have always installed them on top, so I have a question. On engines (esp old) that have very much blowby, will the oil pool on the base of the aircleaner when drilled from the bottom?
