|
|
Hi
Tried to contact MSD but no answer.
My Digital+ with a HVX coil is ticking. LOUDLY!
my guess, since it's digital, is that it should be soundless. Am I right?
It's mounted on the firewall inside the car and it's a bit annoying.
Solutions? Or any thing I could check? |

Would it tick in the boxes because of that? |

if it's ticking... cut the red wire and RUN!!!!!
seriously, the ticking is likely not coming from the electronics inside the box or the coil, but from spark jumping to ground somewhere off the secondary side of the coil or spark plug leads. Looking at night helps you to see it.
Are the two wires to the primary side of your coil (the power leads from the ignition box tot he coil), routed as far away from the high power secondary cable as possible? |

The engine runs spotsless. No hickups, or ignition cuts.
I will check when it's dark |

Could it tick because I run a 15-20cm Pertronix wire from the coil to the firewall feed through?
Pertronix 8mm
MSD 8,5mm
No visible sparks in the dark! |

I've never used a feed through, but I've read where they go bad, internally shorting out I guess.
If it were me, I'd try temporarily mounting the coil on the engine with one, short coil wire, and see if the ticking goes away.
Keep at it, you'll find it. |
