The drivers door mirror on our Single Cab would always get hit by the door when I'd open the door.

I looked a little closer at the top hinge and figured out that the mirror should swing with the door- so I bent the lock plate tabs and tightened the nut now the mirror moves with the door when it opens.

good looking single cab Riff Raff

Finally pulled the motor in the Daddybus. The Daddybus broke down in the middle of May and has been "flying" (wife's term for the Daddybus on jackstands) in the driveway since.
I have been busy with another project...

The Franken-tandem. A $10 backyard experiment frame, many hours and about $450 in parts. My son and I will be cruising in style at Blackstar and OCTO.

First I need to fix the Daddybus' motor. I pulled the heads and it is not the heads or the pistons. Broke my cheap oil pump puller while I was trying to pull the full flow pump (one hole plugged so the puller could only grab on one side). I will be re-welding the pump puller tomorrow morning with a little more offset towards the open hole in the pump. Once the pump is off, I can check the cam gear. 3 days until Blackstar...cutting it close.

Drove to the shop in the DC. Carrying bed full of metal for the 21 and Panel. Got to work on buses ALL day. Fun day! Smile

My mom sewed some curtains for my bus but they ended up matching my buddies all turkis 64 kombi better so she whipped these up for me and we fitted the others to my buddies bus. The cab divider isn't in the picture but its magnetic so I can throw it up easily while camping. She also made a pillow case and case to store the cab dividers while not in use. Aren't moms the best?! Smile Also fitted an ashtray to replace the rusty one that was in it previously.

Replaced the 26mm oil pump with a 30mm, which I plugged for full flow. Cleaned the short block and did a visual inspection of the internals. Honed the cylinders, re-ringed the pistons and installed then (bolted them down without the heads). Got a set of Steve Tims Stage 1 (40 x 35.5) heads and installed them. Tomorrow I'll install all of the sheet metal, exhaust, shroud, etc. then install the motor in the Daddybus. Hopefully done by noon so I can take my boy camping at Blackstar.

I was finally able to make my shifter engage reverse! Been fighting with this shit for a couple of weeks. It was nice to take it for a test drive. Just a few more things to wrap up and I'll take it on a longer shake down cruise.

Nice one Darren. I was emailing with the seller on that one early on and then he told me got a deposit on it...good for you. That looks like a nice bus for the price.

Wife and I bought a house! With a modest garage! Got our keys to the place yesterday.
We've been renters in the Bay Area of California for roughly 13 years, so we've been separated from "The Toaster" (1967 Westfalia) by about 170 miles.

Once the roof rust is addressed by Skinner Classics, it'll be brought to it's new home.

There's a splitty around the corner from where we are moving; haven't seen behind it to figure out what year it is, but it has bullet front turn signals, is currently a baby powder blue color... Looks like a basic combi, so we know we'll have good and caring neighbors.

Also, on a different street (same town), I saw four buses (although one was a bay Wink ), I imagine they belong to the same house. Once our bus is in town, I'll try to be a good neighbor by driving by and saying hello to the owner.

Here's "The Toaster" under the modesty of a veil at Skinner's:

Set the valves and adjusted the fan belt 1 spacer tighter on my Double Cab.

Installed an ignition I cleaned up and re-keyed to match my doors and the truck is back on a 1-key system now.

Installed a cleaned up and soldered headlight switch:

Also sprayed the fuse box connections with electrical cleaner.

I believe the headlights are brighter now.

I'm not sure how long ago I removed them, and for what reason, but i just re-installed my old set of VW logo mudflaps that I bought from Bob Scott of Vintage Parts back in the mid-'80's.

Taking it to a local "all car" show this evening, so I thought I'd dress her ass up a little... Man, looking at that photo, I guess I better remove, bead blast that "?" tailpipe, paint it hi-heat grey and re-install it. Looks a little shabby...

A backyard shot of it yesterday.
