Electrical problems, seriously done with this! Help!

Alright people , so 62 bug doesn't want to start, didn't have any problems until recently.. I've been posting forums and getting Feed back and still nothing. BRAND new 6v starter, BRAND new 12v battery, BRAND new 12v bosch coil, BRAND new alternator, and looks to be a brand new ignition switch ... The motor turns.. But doesn't have enough to start.. Did the load test on the brand new battery which I just bought today and it passed by far.. Need help.

Did you replace the starter bushing?

Does the engine spin at the right speed when you try to start? You've replaced starter AND ignition, muddying the water, instead of logically troubleshooting.

Starter yes, ignition no, but it looks like its new ... Since the person I bought it from.. I've cleaned up all connections too.. The motor turns, but seems like it doesn't crank enough to turn it over completely . Starter solinoid go out so soon ? I've only had it for about 2montha.

Check the connections of the ground strap (front of the trans). If that connection is weak, it could explain your problem.

Jack up the rear of the car, the strap should be hanging down slightly between the front of the transmission and the mount it attaches to, on the passenger's side if I remember right.

What is it connected to? Because I followed all the wires , and none of them lead to a transmission strap, I'm new with the electrical part..

They won't. The strap is only attached to a bolt on the transmission and one of the two front transmission mount studs on the car body.

Alright I'll look into it tomorrow morning . Thanks ! Sorry to ask but what is THAT ground strap for ? It isn't hooked up to the battery, or starter ? Or ?

It's there because the transmission is mounted on rubber mounts! The only direct metal-to-metal connections without a dedicated ground strap would be the axle tubes/wheel bearings and the clutch cable - both of which are not exactly great places to have high current flowing through them. Factory photo... it's on the left (driver) side.

X2 on that, 90 percent of all electrical problems are bad grounds IMO.

It's a brand new flywheel and starter, so the teeth should be good , ima check out the ground strap right now, and pull out the starter to check it out. Anything else I should check? I'm just trying to get this thing going.. It's almost there !

Well - you did not confirm that your ignition has no problems. Check for spark and if not strong, test coil and then check points and condensor. Just had a condensor crap out on the way to a car show yesterday. Hard start, hardly would run.......

Alright guys, I cleaned up the transmission ground strap, and all the connections once again and nothing so I said ima just take the starter out and check it out, (3 months old) I took it back to the shop, because I have a life time warranty Smile

and put it in, and boom! Starts up like a champ !

Block the wheels, OUT of gear, ebrake firmly on... ignition switch off. Crawl under the car with a big (and insulated!) beat up old screwdriver, and short from the push-on terminal to the big stud/nut on the solenoid. If it cranks fast now, but not with the ignitionn/starter switch, then either the starter wiring or your switch is bad.

If it's still slow, then it's battery wires, solenoid or starter.
