third annual HBB memorial cruise to point vincente lighthouse, palos verdes on june 8th. 15 vws of many types showed up for cruise, this time Brad's oval was included. 30 or more people attended and the drive out to the point was great, a good portion of it down pacific coast highway and over bridges. weather was great and the round trip was well over a hundred miles for sure. there were no major problems at all, only pinto needs to repair his electrical on his bug cause he broke down five times on the way back. it was fun for some of us pulling over to the side of the the road to make temporary repairs, finally got it right the fifth time and we followed him to his turnoff. i assume he made it the short distance to his home base. no one was in any hurry and it was just a good day overall. david bring your car over here and we will fix the electrical once and for all..

I'll have some posted tonight, Owen! I haven't even pulled the photos off my camera yet, just posted the cell phone ones on Facebook so far. I got some great rolling shots of the HBB 53 on the cruise, right when we lined up for that drag race!

I'll post them tonight.

This pic has been bothering me for some time. ok, a long long time

That was bugorama, 2005 I believe. Brad had come up to stay with us. Angela was is Sac with us too that weekend, I picked her up from the airport in the General (corolla painted orange with an 01 on the side. you think I didnt do that?) Nick and I were working on his bus all night to get it to the show. No doubt I was cranky so when someone wanted to take a picture, again, I was like F-That and turned my head and chucked up the duece.

I don't have any other pics of Me and Brad. There I am sitting right next to him, and I didn't want my picture taken. There are very few things in my life that I would do differently, but this is a big one to me.

I love cars. I take pics of cars at the shows, post cool ones on FB, etc. I'm not the only one that wants nice pictures with no one around. no people blocking your shots, etc. No more. People are what make the shows. People are who build the cars.

Please don't make the mistake that I used to. I used to hate people taking pics of me at shows. It's the people that make the VW hobby what it is. You never know when it might be the last time you get to take a pic with them...

now, if someone does have a pic of Brad and I, please post it or PM me

Brad's baja update...................
out in desert again at landers calif for two days and everything went fine until my buddie took me down what he calls widowmaker trail, a rugged ass road in where some places you can only move about 1/2 mph or less. these places in the road are a real obsticle coarse, you know like over the burm slow and then a hard left around boulder without hitting it and still stay on the trail, road very narrow here, then over a washout then up again, then down a little then right and left and so on and so on. the trail is so uneven that there are a few times you only have three wheels on the road and all this at 1/2 mph and some times much less. well there was another left around a boulder 10ft tall and at a crawling speed going downhill and with the right front wheel in the air the car slid off the road a little a crashed into an old dead yucca and stopped. tried to back out of it but the car just dug a hole. we tried to pull the front end to the left but couldnt move it as right wheel was over edge a little. mike brought up his buggie around and got up above me where we could tie up a 20' strap to both cars and with a lot of effort we managed to pull Brad's baja uphill a couple of feet, it was enough to steer it back onto the trail. thank god we got out of that mess. we were really huffing and puffing in 98 deg weather. we finially got off that trail and back into to sand washes where we stopped for a cold one. rested a bit we took off again me at 30mph in winding sand washes at fasted and mike at i dont know, he was just gone but he would always wait for me at the next fork. his two cars are built for speed and with great suspension things dont slow him down much except on trails like widowmaker. great trip as usual when we got home right rear tire on trailer was flat ......... oh well ill fix it tomarrow, got up this morning and right rear tire on the baja was flat also.
jesus i said to myself... what a ride that was and what do you think Brad am i still doing ok beating the sh** out of you car.
