After building the ADAC bus with Hacksaw BoB, I decided to build one for myself along more Volkswagen lines. (Rear engine, transaxle, etc.) Many parts, including the Corvair "mill," came from the reissue of the AMT Depth Charger. The only original parts from the old AMT bus kit are the body, parts of the chassis and taillights.

Here's a Revell Cal Looker I did.
These are old pictures. The car has had some more mods since then. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Hey Blue Baron, we need to meet! We both live in Tampa, and we both seem to be just as passionate about small VW's (toys, models etc) as we are about the "big ones".
I have a large kit collection (VW and others) but lost my motivation to build when I couldn't show my work off. It's a damned shame there isn't a model car club in this area _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

As I step back and look at it, a few more nautical features would look neat. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Here's a Revell VW Street Machine model I built around 20 years ago, done up in the fashion of that era.
Note modified lowback seats and speaker tray in the back.
Thanks to Hacksaw Bob Gilmore for help with the VW Trends window sticker. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

The BRMs were cast by a jeweler, who posts here as Wagenmaster. They're solid silver, and are worth over $100, sort of the scale model version of real BRMs. (Just they're heavy instead of light.) _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Here's a restoration of a Revell Deluxe Volkswagen Station Wagon kit from 1967.
The kit was originally a 21 window, but I decided to build a 13 window instead.
Parts fresh out of the paint stripper.
Fixing broken door hinges.
Parts in primer
Cutting tinted windows from clear blue plastic.
The instructions offered the option of a Corvair engine from another kit.
Revell Covair engine completed. Webers are from Revell Porsche 911.
Chassis and undercarriage.
Engine installed
Interior paint
Body trim
Assembly
Finished product
The bug is a story for another day.
