This is my '56 after I finished restoring it in '91. You can see my other VW rides in the background, a '85 Vanagon and a '82 Quantum TD.
After driving the '56 for 8 years I put it in storage for the next 12 years after I moved to Virginia. Unfortunately I kept it in an outdoor building where the numerous field mice soon decided it would make a great home. Needless to say, I'm going to redo the interior. I'm currently trying to get it back in running condition again with new tires, cleaning of fuel system etc.

Hi all. I'm new here but I've admired this site (and all of its vehicles and owners for years). Just thought I would put up a little something for my Marie. She's a '57. Originally bought in Munich (hence the Mahag fender tags) by a US serviceman, she came to the US in '61. In '95, I answered an ad in the local Southern California paper regarding this gem. One look and I was sold. All original. Bone stock. Zero rust. 46k original miles. I've had her for 17 years now and she's never missed a beat, purring (fweeming) like a kitten. In total, all I've done to her is: tires, 6v battery, plugs, oil, valve adj., wash and wax. That's it. I consider myself very lucky to have found a virgin, unmolested oval. I look forward to enjoying all of the fine 'dubs on this forum! Cool

That is one very nice unmolested oval. Soo glad to see that you did not go with the funky RV front end and sideways jacked off back wheel look for this one.Have fun with it.
