Is there enough space between the top of the plug and the bottom of the screen if I replace the non drain plug sump plate with a drain plug sump plate?

When I wanted to see if I would like the mini sump plate it came with different length pick up tubes. If that is what you are wondering about.
I didnt like it and found it is not worth the hassle to have since my car is lowered. It also looked like my motor had a nipple an had to worry about not ripping it off going over high spots.

Yes; the 1971 1600cc engine originally had a plate with a drain plug. VW removed the drain plug later to encourage folks to clean the screen more often.
