I want to put a oil heated heater in the bus. I'm also putting in a full flow oil system. Has anybody ever used one? It's the last one on the bottom of the link page...

Should work great during a Seattle summer if June isn't too cold.

The funniest one from busdaddy's list was this one - started by dcdubs -

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=258281&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

- especially the first two pages. 5 years later - no results yet. That alone should tell you something .....

I kind of like that wood stove idea. These days you'd be pulled over for sure, if it was fired up while on the highway.

What you are thinking about is very similar to the opposite situation.

Original air conditioning worked great but it ate up a lot of engine power. So in cold weather you could run the A/C and there was no problem for the engine. But in hot weather when you wanted A/C it will overheat the engine. For hot weather engine survival you wouldn't want to turn on the A/C.

In your casae it would be nice for the engine to run your heater in the hot summer. But not to turn it on in the winter.

Maybe he could make a blanket for the underneath side of the engine. This would prevent cold winter air from cooling the block and would leave more heat available in the oil. My oil barely runs hot enough at 30°F to evaporate all the water out on a long run, I sure wouldn't want the oil to run any cooler.

Since bus heaters really suck even when they are working well,I just decided to use one of those Heater Buddy heaters....It's mounted on the floor between the front seats and works very well....It gets nice and comfortable within minutes and stays that way....When it gets too cold outside, anything below freezing, I park the bus and drive a modern car with lots of heat !! Very Happy
