i agree, the brake system looks really good, and everyone has their own way to do their own thing, if you dont like it, dont do it on your car, everyone can build their car the way they want and there will always be people to criticize and call them stupid for the way they did it.

Most of the serious criticism I see here isn't so much about the styling but rather the safety issue. I can't imagine this being a car that actually gets driven but if it does spend any length of time on the road at all, then there are serious safety concerns and folks are justified in their criticism.

Sure, "everyone can build their car the way they want" and I completely agree with that from a styling standpoint but when someone puts a rolling safety hazard on the road it absolutely becomes everybody's business. If the builder crashes and only Darwin's himself then most everybody will just get a good laugh out of it but if he kills my family or yours when he plows into their car it's an entirely different matter.

I'd say it's time for a custom build off!

All of y'all that apparently know how it SHOULD be done, ought to go ahead and get started. When everyone's done with their respective rides, they can be judged, and the best conception to complete project will win bragging rights, as well as the admiration of all participants, and a small smattering of criticism when deserved. (It only seems fair. Doesn't it?)

From the sounds of it, none of y'all will be copying Airkewld's ideas, so having seen this thread will surely not make a difference.

If you're in, post up. (Otherwise, STFU)

You sure? Looking at production numbers, 67 is rarer than an oval vert. Seems a shame when you could get a 68 (twice the production) to chop up.

if your so in love with the '67 vert why don't you buy your own. Theres one here in colorado for 8000 all vintage. don't say what people can and can't do on their projects. i have a feeling this is going to be a sweet ride.

I'll take a guess. Your gonna use the vert window frames and also use a sedan roof. Your gonna make a chopped sport coupe! Am I right? Very Happy

If you wanna blast someone for cutting up a 67, blast this guy. That one looked decent before he started. But it's his car and he can do whatever the hell he wants. Besides, it is just a car and one down means ours are now more expensive.

Why is everyone hatin on the dudes car, throw him a high five, a pat on the back, or show him how you did it on YOUR car that might be a better idea...if you haven't done it, the go do it and THEN come back and talk about....it's much easier to talk about it than to be about it....and right now there is only one person in this thread that I see being about it. You are talking about convertibles. There isn't hundreds of thousands made each year. There are approximately 6000 made. Then 40 some odd years later, what percentage are available. Then try to get parts to restore it. Its one thing to have hundreds of thousands of something made, but try to find something like rear view mirror for it when there were only 6000 to 12000 ever made. Completely different story.

May be the reason your post count is so low.
Laughing your right though. But once again some people may bite their tounge when they see something done wrong and could be a serious issue. So it works both ways. I don't see Pete getting bent outta shape so I assume he already expected it. Something I learned long ago, if you can't take criticism don't post on open forums. That's why I rarely do build threads here, I know that I am hacking shit up.

Pete, I do like the IRS arms, they look real beefy, are the heavier than stock? Available in different widths?

Also, I am looking for some near perfect or perfect, maybe even NOS Hella Red Tail Light Lenses for 63-67. If you have a set and are willing to part with them, please send me a PM or email with a picture. [email protected], thanks.

Second request, Driver side Vent window glass for a 67 vert as well. Thanks!

NOS stuff will be sweet on that car.

I have one nos Vw light. The red on them is darker than the repop stuff.

Ok I found the tail light finally, been cleaning out my garage and found it in a box on the top shelf

I don't plan to sell it, it was just a example. Then again 1 is not going to do anyone any good. Hey if someone offers me enough money make it worth it (can put it into my bus) they can lazer cut what ever they want into it. Its not mine any more.
