help with valve adjustment problem

Motor was running fine. I put new pus rod tube seals in and all the valves were good other then the #2 exaust valve. I started at tdc for the #1 cyl the went closkwise 180 and did 4, another 180 adjusted 3 then 180 again always clockwise and went to #2. The intake is good but the ex valve is tight but if I rotate the motor more I do get to a point were it is loose and the gap is dead with the 6 feeler guage. But the motor is between tdc and bdc. Am I missing something. Is tdc for the spot where the valves will have the most gap? Thanks for the help.

what year and size is is your motor? also was your rotor pointed at number 1 when you started or was it 180 deg.s off?

also i started at 7.5 deg and then rocked it a little (the motor) back and forth to make sure that both valves where closed. runs like its new

Its a 2276 and yes it was pointed at number 1. All other valves were able to be adjusted when they should have been able too. Are you saying its OK to move it a few degrees to find the point with the biggest gap? Thanks.
