Sometimes I wish I was, when I see people not paying attention to the road and calling or texting. _________________ Cancer, You have claimed another beautiful life, but You will be defeated....

I'm a little late coming to the table here, but wether you are guilty or not of not wearing your seat belt, this is one you should have protested.
You don't mention why the cop pulled you over, just that he gave you the seatbelt ticket. So did he in fact see the hanging unused shoulder belt or did he pull you over for something else and ticket you for not having your belt on?
In this case the officer is wrong in his description of your car. And that is what needs to be addressed.
If the officer is not paying attention to details such as what you are driving, then how can anyone be sure he saw you weren't wearing your belt?
And if he is not paying attention to details, is this really the kind of officer you want showing up when you call for help?
I appreciate the job these guys do and I'm glad they are there when you need them. But sometimes you need to point out to the system that an officer is not doing his job. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

I agree with the point you're making. I simply did not care to push the matter nor did I have the time.
Honestly the way the car was loaded with tools looked pretty odd, however with a casual glance one would see that they were all clearly marked with my name. While he had me there why not justify the stop with a ticket? Pure speculation...
Anyway, that story was meant to be amusing. Now for something completely different....
Last night I was taking a late walk in my back yard*, flashlight in hand talking to a new lady friend on the phone. My neighbor, a sheriffs deputy, decided that someone was trying to invade my house.
Talking on the phone and shining a light around is now to be considered suspicious.
On my way back he met me with a shotgun and barked out "sheriff's dept. stop where you are." I say "George** what are you doing?" "Making sure no one sneaks up on you" he says.
Oh Really? Thanks man!
Scared the crap out of me. The sound of a 12 gauge being cocked does not give me a sense of protection. D-bag, go eat a bowl of ripe jockstraps.
I think a simple "Hey is everything OK over there?," or a phone call would have been more appropriate. I sure as hell don't trust the guys judgment.
What do you law lovers have to say?
*I was out there for an hour before heading back
**His name isn't George. |
