Strange, I never read this thread before now. I stumbled across the FB link and loved it! Played it for my wife( not known to be a Vanagon kook) and she laughed the whole way through. When it was over she said "so thats why you want to sell the Westy and keep the Syncro" _________________ Imagine that, theres not an "h" in either Westfalia or Syncro?

Hey.
Iam a Vanagon driver from Germany.
Yesterday i found that great song at YouTube. But because my english is not verry good i just understand some parts of that song.
At the search of the lyrics to that song i found this page.
Maybe someone of you can please write down the lyrics of that song, so that is easier for me to translate it into the german language. He sings a little bit fast and unclear

I DRIVE A MUTHAFUCKIN VANAGON
ITS THE DOPEST FUCKIN RIDE ON THE PLANET MAN
ITS GOT A QUEEN SIZE FUTON BUILT RIGHT IN
AN ALPINE TAPEDECK SPINNIN THE SHIT
ITS GOT AN EAGLE FEATHER HANGIN FROM THE REAR VIEW MIRROR
A MINI FRIDGE FULL OF PEPPERONI AND LUCKY BEER
A BOX OF GRANOLA, A BLOCK OF CHEESE
A MICKEY OF RYE(?) AND A QUARTER OF WEED
CHORUS:
YOU CAN DRIVE IT YOU CAN DRIVE IT
YOU SHOULD DRIVE IT THINK YOU LIKE IT
PUT THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR FEEL THE THRILL
HEAR THE ENGINE ROAR
VERSE 2:
I DRIVE A MUTHAFUCKIN VANAGON
YOU CAN HEAR THE FOUR CYLINDERS ROAR
AS I LAY IT ON THE GODDAMN FLOOR
HEARING ME COMING FROM A MILE AWAY
STRIKING FEAR IN YOUR HEART AND I CAN HEAR YOU SAY
SHIT MAN THAT'S ONE SWEET LOOKIN VAN
MAKES ME WANT TO TAKE A TORCH TO MY PORSHE
WOULD I TRADE UP MY SOUL FOR IT? YES OF COURSE
IN A WORLD FULL OF PONIES ITS A THROUGHBRED HORSE
SHIT MAN THAT'S ONE SWEET LOOKIN VAN
LIKE SALMA HAYEK NAKED SAYIN LOOK HERE I AM
LIKE A KUNG FU MASTER DESTROYING WITH GRACE
LIKE A TBONE STEAK ON A SOLID GOLD PLATE, YEAH
CHORUS
VERSE 3:
I DRIVE A MUTHAFUCKIN VANAGON
I KNOW YOU'RE JEALOUS BUT DON'T HATE ME MAN
SOME OF US JUST LUCKY THAT'S THE WAY IT IS
AND I'M THE CEO OF THIS BLING BLING BIZ

Novelty. Those are terrible songs sans the original one that was posted. That "MommyDaddy" song was unlistenable. Sorry, man, but those songs aren't funny even in jest.bIf there is something that I am missing, please enlighten me. Thanks much!! _________________ Cars and Trucks.

Different strokes for different folks I guess... Some people like Coke some prefer Pepsi. I'm just digging the fact that other people dig the VW as much as we do...

I've done searching, can't find. Please help.
Does anyone know of the Car Talk song with the lyrics something like "its gotta be a vanagon again, gonna be a vanagon again..."?
This is an old thread, but deserves to be resurrected every once in a while.
This one is a bit of a stretch. It mentions a "good times van" and Lily drove here in a VW Bug (not a bus), but it's a good honky tonk song for the road trippin'. Good Times by Charlie Robison:
I can't believe that I spent so many years without the best theme song for my Vanagon, just glad to have it now. I already know all the words... and my girls are picking them up too. It's a good time to talk about "irony" and "artistic license."
I have found that the other song mentioned much earlier is their favorite. Pitch needs some work but it somehow sounds better in my van. Is that what they mean by correcting a song with "auto" tune? (Sorry, had to do that.)

Anyone have a link for an iPod downloadable file? The original links don't work no more... _________________ 1984 Westy, base model, 2WD. Plus some goodies.
