|
|
| Hi so im trying to put a mid mount on my 69 beetle. I went to put it on but the studs arent long enough to mount it on there so i was going to replace them with longer ones but the problem is there not even long enough to double nut them. How else can i remove them? Thanks |

| Maybe vise grips but I would be hesitant in fear of being unable to remove one and stripping it out. |

You should not have to change the hardware that it came with. Some mid mount brackets are never bend enough to get the bolts and nuts started. If I am following what you are asking then you my have to use c-clamp vise grip to draw the the bottom and top together engouh to start the nut and bolt.
Are you basically talking about one of these mid mounts?

He has to be talking about the "Mohr" type midmount.
Not the worthless (for street) strap setup.
Yes, use the vice grips. Studs are plentiful and not
over $1 each at many suppliers in LA.
I think the 60 mm length will be plenty long. |

I just helped a buddy install a complete Rhino mount kit in his 64. Make sure you have some 10mm head studs to use on the fornt mount, you won't get regular 17mm hex nuts on them.

| So i put the tranny back in and putting the midmount in was a pain...the urethane pads were wayyyy too tall. I had it in the right way and i used a jack to compress them and it was over a half inch off so i shaved the pads down alittle at a time till i finally got it in. Has anyone had similiar issues with theres? And yes it is empi so its to be expected i guess... |

Your experience with the midmount is not uncommon. We had to do he same on my buddies, he ended up getting new pads because the bolts tore out of the urethane.

He got them from Concept 1 in Calgary, Canada. Not sure what brand they are but I can check. They weren't EMPI I know that. Possibly Bugpack.

I had to kiss mine on either side with a grinder to get them to fit. Cut them long and then compressed them with a jack to load them up when installed |
