I am thinking of using a street bike muffler and was wondering if you guys know of any bikes that have a shorter muffler length to them? Thanks

You'll simply have to look at bikes or go on Fleecepay to get some ideas. Many of the factory bike mufflers out today are a bit restrictive & have catalytic converters at front part of muffler - my Ducati mufflers have cats.

My buddy Mark installed a Suzuki GSXR1000 muffler (that he got from me) on his Zetec powered Berrien buggy - he mounted it beside the motor.

Question: where are you looking to place muffler?
Crossways, like Murzi did on his Baja Bug?
Straight out the back of your buggy?

Its for a Porsche Speedster replica and I was planning on running an a1 header setup with two of these one after the other to get my car as quiet as possible. Planning on tucking them up in the back. I have seen some posts about the hayabusa and some gsxr cans that people shorten but would love to save myself from all that work.

Put a side-winder style muffler on each side of motor, exit header at rear into right side-winder muffler, exit pipe goes forward, then makes 90-degree turn under car, then 90-degree turn to rear into second muffler. Then tailpipe out the back.

What motor are you running & why the need to make it so quiet? Run a stock VW T1 exhaust...

its a mild 1915 engine 110 cam. I want to make it a daily driver and I know if its loud I wont drive it as much. Plus I want to be able to hear my radio the best I can. I know its still going to be loud but if I am customizing an exhaust figured id do it the best I can.

You can do something like this...

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

- or something along the lines of a Thing exhaust, but modified -

I like that top pic exhaust but it would be cool if I could get a smaller muffler to run two on one side.

1) ...get a basic header like in the second picture, take car to muffler shop, and have them build you a system.

2) ...see what other Speedster builders have done for exhaust.

3) ...put a stock VW muffler on it.

4) ...skip the radio. You're in a Speedster. Music is the mechanical noises of the car - the concept of driving is to get back to the driving experience, not to listen to Snoop Dog or Bieber.

Put a SuperTrapp muffler on it.

You can add or subtract discs and get it as quiet or loud as you want.

And create as much power robbing back-pressure as you want, unless you have a dyno to tune it by.

Supertrapps are available in various lengths - but shorter is louder. We are running one that I think is a 17" (15" body lenght) with 8 disks. Als header 1 3/8" desert dueler style on a mild 1776. Pretty quiet until you get on it. Power is nice - but I am honestly flying blind until I have the time to get it on the dyno for some testing (adding/subtracting discs). I will post the results when I do it, but its gonna be a couple weeks.

Although not VW, the sound of a 6 cyl Corvair with stock Harley mufflers. The ones everyone removes,

With the engine cover opened. First time running.

Did not like it so I changed things around a bit. Lost the motorcycle mufflers.
