Does anyone one know where there is a diagram of the fuel line system? I replaced the fuel line in the engine compartment and just underneath the engine. Since those lines were in pretty bad shape, trying to find where the rest of it goes, if any, to replace what I can't find/see. Have plenty of electrical diagrams but no fuel.
Thanks.. |

No much to it. Fuel goes from the tank to the fuel pump to the carb. Make sure the fuel filter (I like metal ones) are between forward of the engine compartment over by the drivers side.
While you are in there, use some safety wire to keep the brass tube actually on the carb so it won't burn down the car when it falls out.

Thanks that was easy. I thought there the line traveled up and around the front and back. I guess I took care of the bad lines as the rest were metal
Thanks!! |

The line from in front of the engine through the chassis to the front is steel. It changes to rubber again in the front of the car behind the left front wheel by the master cylinder and goes from there directly to the fitting on the bottom of the tank, also accessible behind the left front wheel. Most people move the fuel filter out of the engine compartment and either put it in front of the engine under the car or up front under the tank. There are also some vent hoses that go to the canister that's mounted on the inner panel on the right side of the trunk that you could replace too.
Hope this helps.

i like the safety wire tip. my carb fitting popped out awhile back and gas went everywhere in the garage floor. the car stalled out from lack of fuel and luckily it was parked when it happened. i tapped it back in there with a hammer so i hope it stays put. here's how i did my fuel lines recently:
edit: i'm glad i saw the tip about the safety wire. thanks for sharing. i did mine right after seeing yours.

So, the fuel inlet on the carb that pops out, is that specific to Solex or is that a good idea on most all of them? I have a 30 Pict2-3, I think it's a Tomco. Are they all just pressed in? _________________ Two wrongs don't make a right...

Where's the tube for your throttle cable?

Ditto....I've never heard of one popping out before, but am glad to find out about it here, instead of the hard way.
b.t.w. jgrexx, excellent choice of fuel line clamps. I use them exclusively. Tremendous hold without "cutting" into the hose as worm gear clamps most often do. I like how even the edges are tapered outward to prevent biting into the rubber. _________________ "I still say that theoretically what we really need here is a neutron flux high enough to bypass the gaps of instability."

Hey guys, I have air bubbles coming up thru the filter below the carb. I have checked the vent on the tank, and check to see if the line was getting hot, it was not. I rebuilt the carb. and replaced the float valve and nothing has stopped it. I have a new fuel pump as well. What else can I check? |
