|
|
81 diesel truck with standard 1.6 l diesel
I notice a considerable amount of vibration at idle but as soon as I increase rpm...it gets very smooth. Is this a motor mount issue or just the nature of the beast? This is my first diesel and I expect some vibration but I am not sure if this is excessive. I did look at the engine mount close to the front and the rubber looks dry rotted but it does appear to be fairly centered in the mount.
Also is it fairly easy to replace this mount?
Any ideas? |

changing this rubber is very much work in case that on the same mount plate is injection pump.To much to write it here.About details see manual repair book. This engines vibrations on idle is common thing...is the mount broken or not depends how much it vibrating and how the rubber looks. We cant see or feel it here as you do. _________________ VW Golf mk1 GTI`77,

Put a small block of wood on a floor jack and place this under motor. jack up the motor a little bit, if the vibration goes away it's a good sign that the mounts are sagging. |

I have a similar problem with TD. Not so much at idle, but in gear change. I discovered my front muont not aligned with the recess in the body.
Should I replace the other mounts to get the alignent with the recess or is it adjustable? _________________ '71 VW 1302 1300cc in progress....

The cup that holds the front mount on the body does have some adjustment.About a half inch up and side play. The front mount failing will cause the other mounts to fail, because it allows too much motor movement and that will stress the mounts. |

Is the front mount to cup a snug fit? _________________ '71 VW 1302 1300cc in progress....
