|
|
| Got my 65 notch painted about a month ago, ready for the interior now. Anybody have any recommendations for a good upholstery job, preferably in the central valley? Looking to do a Indian Red/Brick Red interior. |

If you want to do it yourself, you can get everything from either TMI or Sewfine. ISP West is a TMI distributor...
A word of warning though: The TMI carpet is setup for Squarebacks and Fastbacks. This means that the grommets for the floor heater vents will be in the wrong position. The work around is to have your carpet made/ordered without the grommets. You then have to locates and cut your own holes for the vents.
Also, make sure you get the right seat bottom and back combination. My late model euro-notch has late bottom cushions but earlier back cushions without the headrest. I bought my interior from ISP and they worked with me to get the correct products. _________________

That's not completely true Warren, as I was able to get a TMI carpet kit for both of my Notchbacks. The key to that, is ordering it for an earlier car (like a 65). That's the beauty of the Notch, in that it didn't change thru the years like the Square did (the fastback doesn't count, as it started with 2 bolt door hinges).
I get my TMI carpet (along with door panels and other interior bits) thru J-bugs. They're located in the same building as TMI ( I was told that, so I don't know if it's true). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Then someone needs to educate the ISP folks! They should have recommend the earlier carpet when I complained about it not fitting the heater vents... _________________

Well, that's what Tram and I were talking about in another thread. As a parts buyer, you need to do your homework, as suppliers and vendors aren't going to do it for you. And when dealing with TMI parts, you really need to know what you want, before you order from them, as their catalog is wrong on it's cut off dates. An example is my 65 Notch; according to their catalog, my front seats are 64 and earlier, and the rear seat is all years, along with being used in a Fastback (includes the fold down armrest). Since my car is set up like a later car (or an "N"), that means standard t-3 door panels up front, and non-armrest Fastback rear panels. And it'll have a 65 and earlier carpet kit. All of that means, it'll be shipped in 4 boxes (1 for the carpet, 1 for the front seats,1 for the rear seats, and 1 for the door panels . Note; that doesn't include any sisal padding, or anything else (like a headliner).
On my 71 Notch, it was an up to 65 Notch carpet, 66-67 low back Fastback seat covers (their catalog calls them out as 65 to 67 ), and 68 and later Fastback door panels. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
