Hello I have a 1974 Volkswagen standard beetle. When I start up my bug it goes good for a little bit the putters out, when I'm at stop signs or stop on the road I have to keep on the gas to keep it running, when I let out of the gas it dies.
Help me please!
Thank you! |

Carb or EFI?
If carb could be timing or intake leak. _________________ 1969 Beetle (Just finished a complete pan off restoration, SWEET! Runs like I imagine a new Beetle would!)
1971 Beetle - 1776CC, dual carbs
1971 Super Convertible - my wife's car
1969 Bus - Work in progress, fun to drive, just needs the odd tweak.
1957 Rag top - Just got her Nov. 13. |

x2 (subject stalling, or misfiring at idle)
but no matter, FI or carb.
stalling happens for many reasons
top ways,
(bad motor, bad park bad fueling only 3 ways) otto cycle engines.
1:never tuned it up with 13 new Bosch ignition parts and new NGK plugs?
2: timing way off , dizzy clamp loose?
3: choke stuck on. flooding hot. missing 12vdc to choke (FI is more complex, ask)
4: idle cut solenoid bad, dirty or not getting , 12vdc to IT. (ditto FI)
5: packed up carb (clean it , kit it and tune it) or bad FI.
float level all wrong. (bad FI)
6: low fuel pressure. (FI fuel reg bad, FPR !)
7: bad fuel
8: induction air leaks, ever replace the intake boots, ? 71 or newer.
9: lash set wrong and dead cylinders with burning up valves.
10: Very low compression in the engine.
im sure i missed one, but here are the top 10. _________________ for sale now.
