My front end started making a pulsating roar. Sounds like mud tires (real loud) and i can feel the vibration through the car. Other than that there are no vibration or wobbles that are accruing all the time. Wheel bearings? Brake pedal is solid and no pulsing.

the pulsation goes along with speed

Sounds like it could be wheel bearings. Raise teh front and roll the tires by hand. See what it feels like. also check play in the wheel. If it is excessive, you probably need bearings. It's easy to pull the hubs and take a look at them.

Thanks flyboat. do you think re-packing them with grease would help anything?

They are cheap. If you are going to bother taking them out, go ahead and replace them.

At $15 each - just replace both (at least) on side where one is bad). Remember to us the new races and replace the rear seal. You'll find rusty grease and bearings that are galled or burnt. Other side needs to be cleaned and repacked too. Probably time to replace both sides rather than a wheel come off at speed or bearing freeze to spindle ruining it.
