I've had my eye on this bitchin mexi truck for awhile now and finally hauled it home yesterday.
Engine access through doors under the seat, probably the easiest vw to work on ever made. You can easily access the front and back of the engine, all the wires and cables, theres enough ground clearance to drag the engine out without jacking the truck up.
anybody recognize this funky header? worth keeping? I'm thinking of making a truck style exhaust that comes up the side, now there is just a really long pipe bolted the header and held up at the end by a coat hanger.
anybody recognize the shift knob?
need a new accelerator
So far I've stripped most of the crap out of the inside, the driver side floor is pretty shot and there is a small hole in the roof but the rest is pretty solid. Previous owner said his property got flooded and was completely underwater. The engine turns over and has clean oil, is missing battery and carb but supposedly ran about 6 months ago. A buddy of mine is bringin me a carb in the next day or so, until then Im gonna see if I can get the brakes gone through so we can take it for a spin before I tear it apart. Plan is to pull the cab and bed off the frame, fix the floor and sand and paint the rest of surface rust. Looks like there is only 4 large bolts holding the cab on and some u bolts for the bed. What few wires and cables there are are all within easy reach so shouldn't be too bad to tear it all down. _________________ 73 SB, Hormiga |

Gonna tear it down to the frame and fix all the rust. Reupholster the interior with festive mexican fabrics. thinking about enclosing the back and turning it into a little camping buggy. I think it should do pretty good offroad with the front wheel drive. Originally there was even a rooftop intake but has welded up for some reason. _________________ 73 SB, Hormiga |

Yeah it backs to the woods but is part of a subdivision. They sent some letter sayin I got 30 days to get it off the grass. Im guessin my prick neighbor complained because you cant even see it from the road. People park all up and down the side of the street and dont get crap for it, I may just move it out curbside and see how they like that. If they send me another letter ill tell em I aint movin shit till everyone else does _________________ 73 SB, Hormiga |

If you don't have a neighborhood "ass"ociation I would do just that. If you do, then fight back. I hate those neighborhood fascists! _________________ OK Thang |

Sweet! Get it running/driving in the next 30 days… If the tow truck driver ever shows up all you need to do is start it up and drive off. |

Don't do it. I've seen those tow truck drivers on TV. They show up ready to fight. Every tow is like a WWE match! _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

Finally got a carb from my friend. Just rebuilt it and it's ready to go on. If the distributor isn't full of mud I might try to start it up tonight _________________ 73 SB, Hormiga |
