Would I be able to put these bumpers on a 74 super? Will I have to make brackets or can I just weld the 74 brackets to them.[/img]

Sure you "could" just weld them but they'd look like crap. They'd be too high and have the wrong contour.

custom brackets would work,

don't look half bad till you get to the rear-they sit too high, even with a 2 inch drop adapter

The 74 bumper is big and offensive unless your in an accident. I changed my late super to the 68-73 style bumper. This is a smaller bumper of similar shape. It required all sorts of special home make braketry unless you just drill new holes in the bumper to be attached to the original shock style mounts

74 bumper is a great place to sit and put your boots on, rest for a bit in the sun after a strenuous task.
Honestly, the look grows on you!

I used to hate 68 and up bugs (back in the late 60's nd early 70's) .....now I gots me one! Smile

I've put custom bumpers and/or brackets on my own car, but not for the one I'm building for my girl...and on my Dad's car we left the front stock, and made early-looking brackets for the late rear bumper - simply drilling new holes. I even had a trailer-hitch welded to my first car - and used (6) M8 bolts to fasten the bumper to home-made brackets - pulled my HF trailer w/spare engine & trans to a few tracks w/o issue.

Once you've held a `74+ bumper you'll understand...and they do make a very nice place to sit-down & pull-up your socks.

I've got some brand-new bumper strips w/a parts car if anyone is looking for a pair. I was able to use a couple tire spoons to lift the original bumper strips enough to remove the bolts w/o yanking them off as the last owner intended.
