Hello All,
After 20 years of dreaming I would have another bus (first one burned up in the mid-90's), I finally bought my 2nd Bay Window last week. It's a 1973 Safare' Tin-Top Custom Camper built in Paramount, CA.
While going though the manila envelope of miscellaneous repair invoices and registration forms, I found a treasure trove of flyers and price lists.
From what I gather, I think the original builder was named Safare' and then later the business moved down the road and was re-named "Spirit Custom Campers".
Incredibly interesting to see the various options and original cost for each! Enjoy!

Awesome find! My Riviera top is exactly like their California POP TOP.. I assume it must have been made by the same company and rebranded...
I'd like to know what else comes with the "Swinger Model"!!! _________________ 78 Riviera

Dreday,
Please go to "Safares....Where are they," and post all this good info for the edification of Safare owners.
Nice find. It looks as if Spirit just changed the window style in the hitop. _________________ WTB swivel table hdwr.

"Slip into something comfortable"..."Swinger Model" hahah, there's definitely some 70's boomchickawowwoww going on in their marketing!
Yeah these things cost a fortune back in their day. Maybe that's why they stress the money saved on hotels and cooking your own food in the ad's. _________________ - Andre

Hey man,
I just found and purchased a 78 Champagne II with a Spirit California Pop Top. Trying to find out more about Spirit but running into dead ends. Have found additional information? I would love to learn more about it.
Thanks,
Bert |

The high top looks a whole lot like an Adventurewagen from Ft. Bragg, CA. Perhaps they borrowed / licensed the design from Riviera and Adventurewagen. I have both a Riv and Adventurewagen so this is really kind of neat. I'd love to see the inside of a Spirit pop top... _________________ -Romy

I do have to admire how organized the bay window forum is. Tcash doing most, but everything is so refined. _________________ Wash your hands

What an excellent bonus find . Very interesting info. As You know high tops are getting harder and harder to find.
I'm loving mine! One day High Tops will be the 23 Window Deluxes of the Bay Window Community.

Interesting - what are the dinette seat dimensions?
Indeed, all of the dimensions - how wide/deep is the wardrobe, etc? _________________ Ben

Anyone know if there was any sort of pull handle or latch on the window up in the bubble top? A picture would help if they had something. Mine has none and not sure what I should find if anything.
I am also replacing the wood panels that surround the windows but I cant find the plastic liner that finishes off the edges. Anyone know where to get that sort of thing? I have been to RV shops and hardware stores. |
