Ok. 1969 Deluxe.

Fresh paint from last year over the OG blue paint, but the fresh paint job was poorly done. I can live with it, I guess, but there are spots of minor surface rust in a couple places that they just painted over and are bubbling. If my bank account would cooperate, I would definitely paint the bus, int. and ext., right now. But it's not really an option.

My question is this: The only place that there is anything more than very minor rust is the battery tray, which is completely rusted through. I would like to replace it and I have a friend who runs a bronze foundry here in town who is an excellent welder. If I bought the tray, we could install it, no problem. But---

Can the battery tray be replaced without discoloring the exterior paint on the other side of that rear body panel?

Today's cars have many panels glued and not welded. Perhaps he can glue against the ouside and weld the non visible areas. Good luck.
