hey i just got my new engine last night and threw it in. The question i have is that on the old alternator or generator(i'm assuming its a generator due the the different diameter from front to back)has a plug labeled D+ and a B+. The new engine i picked up has a alternator which has a D+ and a DF. I believe the F means field but not sure how to hook it up. Being a newenginei don'twant to take any chances. |

what type alternator is it? #, if it has a built in regulator then take your old one out. I recently upgraded to an alternator recently and simply followed the wire to my starter, and another to my ignition. It depends also where your regulator was mounted, if its under the seat your gonna have to re-do the connections there. Just follow the wires back or get a wiring diagram and it should be a piece of cake, although follow Stan's advice.
I'll have to check out the wiring on mine to tell you which wire connects to the DF, but let me know if what type of alternator were dealing with. |

I am doing the same conversion. I am changing from a generator to an alternator. How do I know if it has the built in regulator?? |
