So this adventure starts out with me and my father hunting for my first VW. We went on craigslist and found a but with a 62 body on a 71 pan, it seemed good so I called the guy up and asked him if he wanted to trade for a iPhone (I didn't have a lot of money, well I still don't but you get it) to my surprise he said that it sounded like a fair trade. Me and my father pack up his truck and go to the guys house. Now we traveled a little more than 20 miles to get to the bug, but once we got there we made the trade. My father tells me to go to the truck and program the GPS to find a u-haul, we didn't bring a trailer and nobody seemed to know where one was. Now at this point I am pumped up and excited to finally bring home my nice little bug, so what do I do? well it turns out I locked my fathers keys in his truck. Now we're stuck, we tried to break into the truck numerous ways, but they all failed mainly because we didn't want to hurt the truck. Luckily the guys friends owned a tow truck, they took me and my father and my new bug back to my home. I broke into my house and got his spare keys, they then drove him back to his truck (for a fee of course). I sat in my driveway for the next hour when he was gone staring at my new arrival. He later got home and we faced the issue of not having a engine or good transaxle (the input shaft broke out), but thats another story for another day. |
